Why is the word "her" always capitalized in As the Sun Rises?
Ah I’ve been waiting for someone to ask me this question so I could talk about it!
So, As the sun rises is an AU of the Yona of the Dawn manga in which the main character is a reincarnation of the Crimson Dragon King, basically, a god. Because this is an AU of the story, I’ll only be following the story of the manga to a certain extent and then creating another ending that more fits the world of Miraculous Ladybug, so in order to fit that ending that I have in mind, I have been adding in my own lore.
Essentially, my AU takes place in a matriarchal society, where the Queen is viewed as the highest ruler and the Cheng family, Sabine’s side of Marinette’s family, holds power. Technically, Tom Dupain holds the title of King Consort because he married into the Cheng family and has been acting as Regent till Marinette is old enough to take the throne.
Along with this, the women in the Cheng family are also seen as Priestesses, who can communicate with the gods (Creation, Destruction, the Four Dragon Warriors, etc.). This comes from the fact that the original ruler of the Kingdom, the first member of the Cheng family to take the throne, was a reincarnation of the Goddess of Creation.
So both her position as Queen and as High Priestess means Marinette, and the other Queens before her, are seen as holy figures in their society. All their pronouns (She, Her, Herself, You, My, I, Me) are all capitalized as a sign of respect.
Hope this helps!
