Luca grew up in a calm, hippie-adjacent household; such a soothing, quiet environment that he immediately wanted to make noise growing up. He picked up a pair of chopsticks when he was five and started drumming on any surface; a habit he continued until his parents finally bought him a winter solstice gift--his first drum set. Luca’s drumming is usually the only “noise” in the house--secretly, though, his family loves it. 

Once he started drumming, Luca grabbed every drumming legend’s soundtrack he could get his hands on. He learned by mimicking, playing the beat of his favorite songs as a means of teaching himself. Eventually, he started a band with his neighborhood friends. He sometimes helps his best friend, Milo, teach by playing the drums while the student and Milo play guitar.

Luca loves longboarding and surfing. While drumming helps him break through the silence, surfing helps him find his own calm. For Luca, getting into the water is meditative. He can sometimes lose himself for hours at a time on the waves. 

Luca is extremely overprotective of his younger sister, Brandy. He’d do anything to make her smile, even if it means making a fool of himself. When they were little, he used to make up funny little songs to keep her occupied and smiling, or lullabies to help her fall asleep. He’s taken her out to surf a few times, too, using it as an opportunity for them to spend time together outside of the house. Anytime they go out, they pick up two pints of Ben & Jerry’s and a bag of gummy worms to take home before movie night. He always grabs a different flavor for them to try, though his favorite is Netflix and Chill or Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough). Whenever their dad heads outside to meditate, Luca follows him--first just to sit close to his dad, but as he grew older, to meditate, too.

Luca loves watching The Three Stooges and Charlie Chaplin’s films. He’ll watch anything his sister chooses, but he prefers comedies (even romcoms, not that he’s shy to admit it). When Luca hears a beat he likes, he can’t help but dancing along, even if he looks like a fool for it (especially if it means his sister will smile). He’s obsessed with chocolate-covered popcorn, especially the seasonal Boom Chica Flavors. He adores Pandas (and Hello Panda cookies). Basically, don’t let Luca get his hand on junk food. 

Luca has a difficult time seeing and understanding rules. He’s not a rebellious troublemaker by any means; he just doesn’t understand why people need to live life restrained. He’s relaxed and easygoing, often going with the flow, but often needs a moment to see how other people live. He hates hearing true crime podcasts and blood, wanting instead to believe the world is a better place.
