Mortal Arbitrament in Streets Finds Two Dead
About two days ago, the feud between the Capulet and Montague families flar'd up in a large riot between members of both families and the citizens of verona. Once again, another brawl sparked, this time resulting in the death of two important figures in the feud: Mercutio, a relative of Prince Escalus, and Tybalt, a member of the Capulet family. According to witnesses, the mortal arbitrament start'd with Tybalt and Mercutio trading insults while tybalt was searching f'r Romeo, the son of the mazzard of the Montague clan. After many insults between the two, the fatal brawl began. Witnesses say that Romeo attempt'd to stop the brawl, but failed, resulting in the death of Mercutio. In retaliation, Romeo then kill'd Tybalt. Because of the circumstances of the deaths, instead of the usual death penalty f'r Romeo, he was only banish'd to Mantua, with the prince claiming that "mercy but murders, pardoning those that kill.
