Divine Timing Chapter One
Summary: During one last battle God himself intervenes to save his son. But, the method is unorthadox and leads Lucifer back to Earth under the care of a Witch named Rosie and a Blacksmith named Connor. Will this small stent away from Hell be the reprieve Lucifer needs? Or will it feed into bad habits and mindsets he never truly escaped. Pairings: Lucifer x OC Tags: Friends to Lovers, Found Family, Vent Piece, Not Long Form, Drabble Collection, Mentions of Medical Trauma, Mentions of Religious Trauma, Slice of Life Note: This is mainly a small set of drabbles that are connected. There's not real over arching story or main villian. It's very slice of life and based more on things like Ah! My Goddess, City of Angels and those wholesome isekai anime where it's some guy just living his best life. Thank you to @willoryn and @heart-of-the-morningstar for making me feel comfortable to post this series. (Yes Rhaz here was that one anon Willoryn oops) It will eventually go on Ao3 When I have more chapters. I'm currently recovering from a major surgery so reblogs, notes etc are appreciated. And I will post what I have daily. I have a few things to post of this series and another.
The creator had a choice to make. The fight had gotten out of hand and he had to protect his son. Because despite everything he still loved him. When the creator heard a small prayer he opened a portal. This was the best way to get him out of the situation. There was no real rhyme or reason, it was an out. And that’s all the creator needed in the moment.
“Dad?”
That was all Lucifer managed to get out of his mouth before he was pushed through a portal to what he assumed was meant to be safety during this final battle. However all he remembered was pain as he tumbled through something hard. He yelped as his wings got battered and he hit is head on something wooden.
Lucifer tried to sit up, but his vision went blank and he passed out.

“I swear mom gives me the vaguest of directions.” Rosie sighed as she looked at the notes on her phone, “All this for some Mountain Mint? Jeez.”
Rosie wasn’t too far off the natural path she had been on earlier. It seemed this area had been a pit stop before, but had fallen into disrepair. Perhaps it wasn’t as popular anymore, but who knew in this town. She could hear the water of the old dam and sighed as she made her way to it. However something caught her attention. Something felt… off and she knew it was coming from the old church. She looked at the time on her phone and tucked it away in her red cloak.
“I can get the mint after.” she said as she made her way to the old decrepit chapel.
Things had gone to hell lately. The political atmosphere had shifted in a way that made her weary of her adventures out. She and her brother were struggling to get by due to the economy. In a few weeks she had a surgery coming up that more than likely would disable her for sometime. So, she took on tasks like this in her free time to earn extra income.
She noted some morelle mushrooms and cut the good ones from their stems and placed them in her bag. And funnily enough she found the Mountain Mint her mother wanted and was able to get quite a bit along with some seeds so they could grow their own in the herb garden they had started. She was over whelmed with the state of things.
“God, it would be nice if you sent me help. Woman, Man, Other, I don’t care at this point. Send the devil himself. I’m tired.” she mused to herself not aware of the gravity of her words as she finally reached the chapel.
The light filtered through the open ceiling of the small stone building as she looked around. She found some raspberry vines and took a few cuts to propagate. There was native honey suckles as well. But as she continued farther inwards she saw feathers.
At first she thought the white ones could have been swan or goose. After all she was in the middle of the woods and wild game roamed nearby. But, then she saw the large bright red feathers as well. Then she saw a hand.
“Shit.” she ran over and moved the bricks and wood off of the figure and something in her chest stopped.
She knew what she was looking at.
Angel. Seraphim. Six Wings. That color scheme…
But, how.
She looked to the statue of Jesus that seemed to loom over the two of them almost tauntingly, “Oh ha ha. You think you’re funny!”
Rosie turned the angel over and tried to wake him. But, nothing seemed to work. She assumed he must of hit his head pretty hard when he fell into the building. She looked around and grabbed the hat that seemed to belong to him and tucked it into her bag.
She moved her backpack to the front of her person before carefully, but clumsily picking up the angel. She used the straps of her bag to secure him. She heard a groan and steadied herself.
Run.
That’s all that ran through her head.
She carefully sprinted off and down the path. She was careful to avoid anyone passing by. Thankfully it was so late in the evening no one was really around. She got to her small truck and managed to carefully tuck him and all his wings into the passenger seat. She got into the drivers side and called her brother.
“Sis, what’s up?” the voice came from the other side.
“I’m on my way back. You know that pantry room with the old futon? Put some sheets and quilts in it. I can’t explain now. If I tried you wouldn’t fuckin’ believe me.” she said as she drove taking every back way she could home.
“What do you mean?” Her brother asked, “I’ll do it, but is everything okay?”
“Yes, just – I swear to God I need to keep my mouth shut when around any holy grounds.” she said.
“Another cat? A baby?” her brother asked.
“No, uh, they have wings.” she said.
“… No way. Ain’t no way. I know there’ve been sightings of the sort, but huh? Okay on it. How soon till you’re home?” He asked.
“About 10 minutes Connor. Make sure our cameras are off too!” She said, “See you soon.”
She hung up and barely stayed at the speed limit. Thankfully she only had to drive on the highway for 4 minutes of the trip. When she got to her neighborhood she parked and grabbed her bag and the concussed angel. She managed to get them both inside without much issue.
Connor met her at the door, “Holy shit! Are we sure it’s not cosplay?” he asked.
Rosie carefully set the angel on his stomach a top of the futon.
“I’m sure. Watch.” she gently touched the tip of a wing and it flapped wildly, “I’m glad we deep cleaned yesterday…”
“Y-yea… Rosie… which angel do you think it is?” Connor asked as they both left the room.
Rosie sighed as she set her bag on the table and pulled out the hat she stowed away. It was white, red and gold. It had an apple embellishment and a snake circled around it.
“Considering he smells like lava rock… who do you think it is?” she said and set the hat on the table.
“Shit. Rosie, what did you do?!” Connor asked.
“Nothing?! I joked and asked God to send me help, but I didn’t expect the devil from the bible!” Rosie rubbed her cheeks, “And if anyone finds out… those agents…”
“Right… fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Rosie, what do we do?” he asked.
“We get him healed up and get him home.” she said with a sigh, “You and I both know the religious teachings aren’t accurate… I’m sure he’s … fine.”
“Alright. Should we make soup for dinner then?” he asked not sure how else to help in the current situation. He was overwhelmed and it showed.
“Yes, get the fixings for chicken stew. That might be the safest bet.” she said, “This way if he does eat it won’t be heavy. I don’t know how this works. We helped that imp Moxxie get back to his wife so, surely it’ll be similar enough.”
Connor nodded and headed out. Rosie, however took the time to clean up the house a bit more while she waited for her brother to come back. Eventually, she heard shifting from the other room. She panicked for a moment, but carefully made her way to the door and walked in.
Lucifer rubbed his head, he felt the dry blood and frowned. But, when he felt the soft pillow bed beneath him he knew he wasn’t in the same place he had been before. When he heard the door open he turned and spread out his wings ready to attack whoever it was.
Instead, he saw a woman. A real live human that wasn’t dead. Her hands held up, one contained his hat and her bright hazel eyes seemingly just as surprised as he was.
“You’re safe. I promise.” she said softly her hands held up to show she was no threat to him.
He groaned and recalled his wings making them vanish completely, “Where am I?”
“Earth? Year 2025…” she said as she walked over and helped him up before returning his top hat, “My name is Rosie. I found you in an old chapel. It seems you took quite a tumble.”
“Tumble is one way to put it.” he sighed and straightened himself out, “I appreciate your assistance Miss. Rosie, but I have to get back home.”
He made an attempt. No portal would open.
“Shit.” he said as he tried again. And again. But a portal wouldn’t open, “Sera… did too good of a job… again. Fuck.”
He tested something. He could still shape shift. Teleport. His wings worked. But portals to heaven. To hell were a non starter. Panic set in. Then realization hit.
“I’m stuck… oh no. Oh, dads going to kill me… wait… he pushed me through the portal… why…” he mumbled to himself, “Surely, it’s not…” He then remembered he had company and turned to Rosie and smiled, “My apologies. My… uh people skills are rusty.”
“It’s fine. You’re a literal being of divine light. I wouldn’t expect you to-” she was interrupted.
“Oh, my name is Lucifer Morningstar. Before we go any further with this conversation. I know how some humans feel about me. Will that be a problem?” He asked summoning his staff and leaning on it. He was trying to not panic, not sure how this woman felt about any religious Dogma.
“It’s not a problem. I have… helped a few folk from your neck of the woods as it were. I know you got the… uh. Short end of the stick. You have a job to do like anyone else. You’re safe here.” she said with a chuckle, “Let’s get you out of this stuffy room. Pardon the mess, my parents left me with a nightmare.”
Lucifer followed her out. He noted how small the house was and frowned. He understood her preemptive apology. But, he could sense one thing in it’s decrept frame. Magic. He noted the haint blue walls of the living room and forest tones of the kitchen. The small details like a herbal hangar. Incense burners and window film that refracted rainbows. He knew if he hadn’t been invited in he’d be smoking more than he’d like.
But, something about this information put him at ease. He would have hated to be around someone who was of that belief.
“Are you hungry?” she asked.
“Oh, uh – not at the moment. But, do you have anything to drink?” he asked. Lucifer figured he might as well take advantage of being on Earth and enjoy the simpler things.
“Sure. Water, Juice, Soda?” she asked as she opened the fridge, “I even have alcohol…”
“Uh, the fizzy things. Flavor doesn’t matter. It’s to distract me from the moment so I can get my head in a better position.” he admitted as he looked around the small kitchen.
Rosie handed him a cold Peach Nehi, “Here. My brother went to the store, but he’ll be back soon. I don’t want you being surprised.”
“Ahhh ooh ohkay. So, not alone got it.” he melted into a chair as he opened the canned drink, “Soooo…. Witch?”
“Something like that.” she said with a laugh, “According to the towns folk anyways. I don’t really have a label.”
Lucifer took a sip of the peach flavored soda and took the moment to breathe as he heard metal clanging as she got out cookware and utensils. He watched her type away at her phone and he got an idea.
He pulled his from his vest pocket. He sent a text to Charlie and got one back! Hope was not lost after all! He explained the situation to her and sent the message. Thankfully, Charlie was already on it with her grandfather.
“Good news, I can at least text my side of the world.” he said to Rosie.
“Oh! I wouldn’t have thought to ask if you needed a cell phone.” she said and looked back at him, “Think they can get you back?”
“No. Not at the moment…” he sighed as he read the messages he was now receiving texts from Sera, “I may be stuck here from quite sometime.”
“Well, you’re more than welcome to stay here. The house isn’t great, but it’s a roof and free room and board.” she said as she filled up a pot with water, “Like I said, not the first other worldly being I’ve helped. Won’t be the last I’m sure.”
“Oh, you were serious…” he chuckled, “Well, while I appreciate you not expecting anything from me that seems unfair to you. After all housing me - I’m sure is dangerous. So, let me at least offer a trade of some sort.” he stood up from his seat and walked over to her, “So long as I am staying here with you - you and your brother will have whatever you need, want and wish for. It is the least I can do. Just say the word and I’ll make it be. Like a familiar in a way! So, long as you take care of me and treat me well. And for bureaucracy sake…” he held out his hand.
This was really an insurance plan for himself. It would be a reason to keep him around and he knew that. He didn’t doubt this woman was good natured, but he also knew how things tended to wind up for him.
“Will it make you feel better?” she asked, she seemed a little weary of the situation herself now that there was a deal involved.
“Yes.” he said nervously, “Unfortunately humans have burned me before.”
There was an exasperated sigh and a small laugh from her. She seemed to agree and understand as she took his hand and shook on the deal. A small gold insignia flashed on both of their hands before vanishing.
As the deal was struck the door opened and a rather large burley man walked in, he had bags of groceries in tow.
“Oh shit, they’re up.” he said as he brought the items to the kitchen.
“He actually. But, thank you for being inclusive.” Lucifer said with a nod, “Your sister here has been an excellent hostess.”
“Ah good. My name is Connor.” he said, “Let me guess from the outfit… Lucifer.”
“Bingo! Nothing misses either one of you huh?” he said trying to up his more playful attitude. A way to hide the anxiety he had bubbling beneath the surface.
“Well, damn Rosie. Maybe you should’ve been praying at that old Chapel sooner.” Connor snorted as he helped Rosie get things ready for dinner.
“Wait, prayer?” Lucifer asked.
“Oh, for…” she sighed, “Before I found you I literally said and I quote. God, it would be nice if you sent me help. Woman, Man, Other, I don’t care at this point. Send the devil himself. I’m tired.”
There was a moment of silence. Then something clicked.
Divine timing. He was a victim of divine timing.
He burst out laughing and had to hold his stomach as tears formed, “Oh, oh my fathers name. That is unfortunately hilarious! That would explain how and why I’m here.” he had to sit, “Y-yea, okay I need to tell Sera.”
“Wife?” Connor asked.
“Sister.” Lucifer said as he held back laughter, he sent the update.
‘You have got to be joking! Our father has the most unfortunate timing! This will be hard to get you out of. But, we will manage. I suppose you should enjoy your time on Earth. Father can deal at this point, this is a consequence of his actions. Perhaps it will do you some good. I will help Charlie with the hotel. You have full reign so long as you behave yourself. Tell the humans we are eternally grateful to them.’
Lucifer’s eyes lit up.
He had been given permission to enjoy Earth.
Suddenly, his anxiety quelled and his situation didn’t seem nearly as dire. He tucked his phone away, “Well you are stuck with me for who knows how long!”
“That’s a sudden mood shift.” Rosie noted as she started cutting the vegetables.
“Well, you see, technically I’m not allowed to be here. And the one who makes calls when father can’t has said I can enjoy me time here! Permission to break my grounding as it were.” Lucifer explained, “I get to actually experience humanity both the good and the bad. Sera is grateful I landed with you two. She says thank you.”
“Well, I be damned. Guess we’ll need to hit up the stores after dinner? Or tomorrow?” Connor asked.
“Dude, I don’t even know how we’re going to afford-” she sighed running her hands through her ringlets as she breathed in, “We’ll figure it out.”
“Hey, hey, remember our deal. I might not be allowed up here, but I do have connections~” Lucifer got between the two of them with a sharp toothy grin, “Money won’t be an issue. For now let’s just get to know each other and have a good dinner.”
The siblings looked at each other. They had bitten off more than they could chew.
And Lucifer, while still anxious and nervous. Felt hope. A moment of reprieve. Maybe this was the change of pace he needed after all these years.
