Coffee | Lucille and Five

“Well… Alright then.” While this wasn’t the strangest experience she’d had in the little café, a kid out by himself was definitely odd. Lucille was half expecting a frantic parent to run in looking for their son, as she finished ringing up the order. “Why don’t you take a seat and I’ll be over in a minute?”
“Fine ok.” Five said, looking around for the nearest seat, choosing one at the little bar attached to the counter. He sat up, legs dangling off the bar stool as he folded his arms on the counter to wait. God why was being young so frustrating. When he was 13 the first time he didn’t remember being questioned for every single decision he made. Yes his decisions now were more ‘adult’ if you called ordering coffee and being vaguely independent ‘adult’ but it still didn’t help with the questions.
After a few moments he leaned over a little to try and see what the woman behind the counter was doing. “You know some of us don’t have all day to waste waiting for a cup of coffee.”
