Where does ‘luck of the irish’ come from?

Sending out a call to anyone who might know this. Being Irish myself and knowing Irish history, we are the UNLUCKIEST GROUP EVER. I mean we have just had a complete history of economic depression, oppression, civil war and just never ending emigration.

Literally when it comes to Ireland, it’s CONSTANTLY Murphy’s Law (Murphy is also the no.1 most common second name in the country).

The whole four leaf clover thing isn’t even Irish, it’s the shamrock with only THREE PETALS which St. Patrick used to explain God.

So someone tell me why this whole thing exists please.
