(( Round 2 since 3 of the 4 questions I gave you were already answered: 47 / 48 / 49 ))
inside ravus’ head
47: How do they express love?
it’s kind of hard to really say how ravus expresses love because … it’s been a while since he had the option of experiencing it ? like, he has no time for romantic flings or pursuing relationships. it’s always been about survival and trying to preserve his sister’s life.
from childhood experiences, he probably sees love in treating someone kindly, taking care of someone, things he could gleam from actions of his mother &. sister during times of peace. but that’s familial love. even afterward, his view of sibling love is still trying to protect lunafreya, even if it means anger at how actions, even if it means not understanding why she must succumb to her fate, even if it means knowing that she’ll eventually die if she pursues this path — even if it’s for the prince of the kingdom that turned their back against tenebrae during their time of need. he shows his support through calling noctis as his king, through soft &. comforting touches for his sister in times of need — from one hand of warmth &. the other of cold steel, through making sure no one in niflheim would even think about touching lunafreya &. becoming a damn commander to ensure that. his love is … really just support, even if he can’t fully agree with it. i think that speaks volumes for someone who is otherwise extremely opinionated &. adheres to his own rules.
romantically ? no clue. LOL. i can’t personally see ravus to be the type to be the head-over-heels schoolgirl — he’s a grown man who cannot be acting that foolish. i suppose it’d be something of a more formal approach: requesting their company &. going through the steps of proper courting. dates when they’re time, respecting space, both offering something to the relationship. something formal &. idealized like that. he was a prince, after all; he probably had some lessons of courting royalty. probably doesn’t touch often though. not just keeping his hands to himself, but more in the sense of not wanting to touch others. ( physically, because he has the magitek arm &. it’s a little jarring. symbolically, to distance himself from developing relationships &. avoid any sort of emotional contact. )
but i think in general, ravus doesn’t … really know what love is, at least in that general romantic sense ? he can care — he has shown such. but it’s almost exclusively for lunafreya so far. this is a man hardened from war, from fate, from destruction. love has no place for him during these dire times; there’s more pressing issues at hand. only his arm is made of metal, but he’s essentially tin man from wizard of oz: no heart.
( hey, notice how my title for my blog is void heart ? yeah. )
48: If this person were to get into a fist fight, what is their fighting style like?
i really can’t imagine ravus doesn’t like to fist fight. not that he can’t — CQC is probably extremely useful on occasion. but i think he prefers a sword because he has more finesse in it. more clean, more distance and not as threatening but still allows him to remain nimble enough to maneuver. regardless, i like to think ravus has a very precise means of fighting. he keeps close, remaining defensive until he knows he can take advantage of someone’s position. it’s not necessarily about getting sneaky blows — but it’s to limit the amount of unnecessary swings he has to do. if it’s like a bar fight though … self-indulgent headcanon that ravus rolls up his sleeves whilst he’s like, you really don’t wanna do this before he straight-up punches someone with his magitek arm. catch me on that shit im like swoons.
i adore the thought of ravus straight-up knocking someone out with his magitek arm. like in that super dramatic scene where someone’s spewing some good ol’ bs &. ravus calls out to them &. just punches them. that’s honestly so funny to me.
49: Is this person afraid of dying? Why or why not?
laughs bitterly as i stare solemnly into my salad
i don’t think it’s necessarily death, he fears. i think it’s dying without having accomplished what he set out to do: protect lunafreya. as a war-hardened commander, he’s seen his fair share of battles &. most likely came close to death on occasion. heck, he even saw his mother killed in front of his own eyes at sixteen. that’s horrifying. but in his later years, he probably just numbed himself in regards to death and war — i think that’s the only way he knew how to properly deal with it, given his occupation in the military. it wasn’t immediate, but he had plenty of time to harden himself to it.
but ravus dying before lunafreya could accomplish her goal … that’s what he can’t accept about dying. despite his actions, he has always cared about lunafreya. it has always been for her own benefit. once she was killed … well, i think regret replaced the fear. &. when he tried to help noctis because lunafreya was so dedicated to him ? he was stabbed. but once again, less fear &. more regret. more of, wanting it to end, especially when he’s turned into a daemon. just end his suffering of having to live a life where everything he loved, everyone he cherished, was so brutally ripped from him.
now though ? he doesn’t fear. a dead man has no fear of death.
