Her eyes pierced right through the boy in front of her, "So, you're the young man who's been looking at the wares in my store." Her words were ice, "

Naegi knew that if he hesitated, he wouldn't be able to go through with this. "Ki-Kirigiri," he said nervously to get her attention. When he did, he took the chance of her head movement to his advantage and kissed her on the lips.

Hearing her name called, she turned toward the luckster- finding a pair of lips against her own. Violet eyes widened in surprise, and a blush spread across her cheeks. 

"I- uh- Yes, Naegi?"

"What do you mean to me? Well, um, to put it as simply as possible, you're my most trusted friend. There's no amount of despair or hope that can change that. I know you're an amazing person, and I know that if I ever need help, even if it puts your own life on the line, you won't fail me. I'm grateful for it too. I really like you and I'm really happy we met."

There they were.... the eerie footsteps on the cold tile of the underground laboratory. Tap, tap, tap. The gang leader, once so powerful, had learned to dread these footsteps. They normally indicated the approach of one of the scientists, here to recharge him for the night. These footsteps were different, though. They were not the heavy noises created by the surgeon, the clicking caused by the heels of the head scientist, nor the slow and anxious footsteps of his fellow broken classmates. No, these footsteps sounded as if their owner was not aware of the evil happenings in the basement.

Mondo rushed to the front of his cell as the footsteps drew near. Fingers curled around the bars of his cell, electricity skittering across the iron, he watched as the mysterious visitor turned the corner. He waited until the source of the footsteps was a bit closer, then gasped in disbelief. "Naegi?! What the gently caress are you doing down here?!"
