Imagine a version of the pokemon tv show where instead of all of team rocket blasting off again every episode, Ash Ketchum without fail just manages to straight up kill two of them. Every week Lorenzo and Loudred or whoever meet their bitter end while Jessie steps on geyser and gets propelled into the next prefecture and so in the subsequent episode, every time, it's Jessie (Jessie is the single permanent member of the team) and two other charmingly self-absorbed mooks who will, without fail, die by the 20 minute mark.
now imagine if Jessie had like some kind of very abstractly selfless motivation. like imagine if the stuff she actually does is very practically and straightforwardly for her own immediate benefit but its like also established she has a long-term goal of like sending money over to her sickly parents back home and her evil schemes with team rocket are all generally a means to this end. but do keep in mind she is still very much like adopting orphaned mr mimes from the animal sanctuary and selling them on the darkweb in this version so Ash is still mostly justified in his actions but still there's nuance.
Imagine after like 30 episodes of this Team Rocket just like collapses because they ran out of expendable fashion-conscious goons and now Jessie's doing community service and now there’s a therapist (who is one of Ash's friends) asking her the roots of her issues and it's not massively helpful because A. her ill parents still need money and B. all of her workfriends are still very much dead at the hands of a zoologist preteen and his emotional support lightning rat.
so anyway stuff happens and there’s a pokemon movie type situation (i haven’t seen the real one) and the world's in danger (her parents live there) (also she lives there) so now Jessie's got to team up with Ash Ketchum and pikachu because only she's like the only surviving person with the Team Rocket Skills necessary to save the world. so obviously being the dream team and all they save the world and some old mentor guy she's never met gives Jessie a million bazillion dollars bc he thinks she's pure of heart due to her apparently selfless motivations so she's kind of set for life so she's like Damn.
And then Ash Ketchum comes up to her afterward and now he's all like Hey You're Such A Cool Person You Should join my Friend Squad :) :) :) and Jessie's standing there and she's just like. No!!!!! Fuck You I Hate You So So So So Much and then she just packs up and leaves the entire story holding a massive suitcase of cash and then is never relevant to the pokemon universe ever again
