5 Ways to Use Coconut Oil other than for cooking! #bbloggers #beautyhack @lucybeecoconut
Hi all I recently went to the incredible Good Housekeeping Institute for a morning of pampering and breakfast to talk about Lucy Bee’s Extra Virgin Raw Coconut Oil which is one of the leading sold brands in the UK for coconut oil. Why is this so different from other Coconut Oil you ask? Well this brand comes with a story, Lucy from a young age was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease where she would…

Healthy hair
You really don't need to spend a fortune on hair care products to keep your hair healthy... Anyone who's been following this blog for long enough will know I really most heavily on coconut oil to keep my hair soft and shiny. I do it once a week, every week religiously. I buy Lucy Bee Coconut Oil, it's about £10 for a tub that lasts probably about 8 months, as a little goes such a long way! So if you haven't tried it, give it a go, it's one of the cheapest hair treatment and the most effective!
I love oils as most of you know already. I was eager to try unrefined coconut oil since I'd heard it works wonders on hair! But when I finally decided to try it, I discovered so much more. Have you heard of oil pulling? Well you're gonna hear today, cause Lucy Bee's coconut oil is sure full of surprises! I have two jars full of goodness: one that is for skincare and haircare, and the other one for cooking and oil pulling.
Let's start with the first jar: coconut oil is a must for winter-proofing your skin, since it's solid when cold and hence you can create a protecting barrier as thin or thick as you please. It melts in contact with skin so application is smooth even if it's a solid! But I like this aspect especially for hair: it's easier to apply this way, since I kinda rub it on, using just the quantity I need and being less messy. I have found that coconut oil penetrates waaaay better than other oils deep into the hair shaft, so it's great as a deep conditioner (which you can leave on from 30 minutes to overnight!). Also, I've been applying it to my sister's extremely dry skin patches (one in a foot and one in the tummy) to see how they evolve by myself, and they "drink" the coconut oil. They are now way softer and less darker, AND my sis loves smelling the coconut (and the massage, mind you).
And then, tasting it... so good! It's the perfect, purest coconut flavour yet not sweet. It's lovely on toast with a sprinkle of brown sugar... *drools*. Bring me all the good fats! (remember: fear them not). This is great when it comes to oil pulling (read more here), because if you're gonna have oil in your mouth for 20 minutes, it better taste good ;). I swear, I would've never imagined swishing this oil in my mouth could make my gums so fantastic - I have had several problems with tumoral gum tissue, and oil pulling has returned life to my gums. They are definitely stronger, softer and pinkier. If I had to pick the greatest use of coconut oil, this would be it. Thanks, Ayurveda. And thanks, Lucy Bee, for introducing it to me!
The overall message I want you to get is that coconut oil is extremely versatile and good for your inside and outside, and you shouldn't miss trying it out. Lucy Bee's one is pure, extra virgin, fair trade, tasty, organic, high quality. I don't know guys, if love were an oil, it'd be Lucy Bee's coconut one!
