I'm getting braces soon, so I've decided to track my dental journey here on tumblr!

I have a pretty crooked overbite. I also have a low gum line, but I'm not really sure what that means. My mouth is small, so my teeth are kind of crowded. They used to be more crowded, but I had 4 teeth pulled a few years ago.

I'm 15. The reason I'm getting braces so late is because when I was little I learned that braces were used as torture devices in the middle ages and it really freaked me out.

Anyway, here's what my teeth look like now:

Four months of braces! I've made so much progress :)

I've had braces for two months. During that time, I've also had 4 teeth pulled, and I've started wearing elastics.

Anyway look at my chompers!

Wow those sure are some teeth!

So I've had braces for 6 days now, and golly gee willikers, I sure do hate it! My mouth is full of cuts and I don't know how to eat or talk!

Anyway here's what they look like lol

I'm getting 4 teeth pulled out tomorrow!

One of separators fell out today

I think it's ok though because I'm getting my braces tomorrow. (Ugggh lol)

I'm getting my separators out tomorrow! My teeth stopped hurting a couple days ago except for when I chew hard food. They also make my teeth a little more sensitive than usual so I'm gonna be relieved when I get them out tomorrow. According to my dad, the pain that I experienced with these separators will probably be the worst pain I'll have throughout my entire dental journey, which is comforting to hear.

I hate separators my teeth hurt so muuuch and it hurts to eeeaaaat and the ibuprofen didn’t heeellllp

Step 1 of fixing my teeth has begun! Today I got separators put between my molars, to create a space for rubber bands. They're blue!

I've had them in for 7 hours now and one side of my mouth has begun to ache a little. I took an ibuprofen 5 hours ago, and it probably wore off.

They're so distracting to have in my mouth! I'll only need to keep them in for a week, though.
