illusionaryinnocence: how bad?
I mean, The Witness isn’t necessarily bad bad, and I want to like it? But I also very quickly realised that a lot of the puzzles are not fun. Walking manually through a small maze and then using environmental clues in it to find a correct answer to trace on the door out? Cool. Climbing to the top and having to retrace all four correct answers on one map? ...There’s a point at which I’m willing to puzzle things out and a point at which things stop feeling like puzzling and more like just work, and in my brief time in the game I found noticably more instances of this than I’d be willing to push through.
luffyfoxtrot: Given your opinion of Bastion I am honestly not surprised.
I’m assuming you mean Braid, given that A. it’s by the same creator, and B. I’ve never played Bastion. But yes, part of it is that if Braid’s Actual Ending was any indication, I won’t even be rewarded for my effort with a good story, just one that’s up its own ass. If I at least had an interest in what might come at the end of all that work I might be more tolerant but... yeah.
