The “Lug isn’t real” theory
It’s come to my attention that people haven’t heard about the Lug discourse, so I figured I’d make a post highlighting what exactly was going on with this! Warning: I’m pro-existence, so I may be a bit biased
What is this all about?
There’s a popular theory going around that suggests Lug does not actually exist, because:
She is never directly addressed
Only Anode seems to respond to her
All her lines could be taken out without changing the narrative in any way (apart from her scenes with just Anode, of course)
The theories around how exactly this happened (so far):
Lug has always been fake, an imaginary friend
Lug is a ghost
Lug is the ghost of the protoform Anode killed
Lug died in that first scene with the necrobot
Lug died in that first scene with the necrobot and Anode is suffering from time sickness and imagining her
Of course, there are reasons to imagine her being alive. Such as:
lesbians
Please fandom just let her be in lesbians with anode
Please let me have lesbians
Lesbians that are ALIVE and EXIST
