Last week while training for a couple big runs I was able to run 18 miles of the Ironman course. At first I thought it was going to be a nice easy run but the course is no joke. Hills, heat and humidity make things tough!! By far the best run I've had in years if not ever!! To pick 10 pictures to represent my last run is hard. I ran with some of the most patriotic people I've never met. We ran from Virginia to Arlington Cemetery together. Extremely hot, people in pain but never once did I hear someone say I'm giving up. We ran in honor of the soldiers who lost their lives since October 2001. What an awesome experience!! Today I finished up my run in Indiana for the Run for the Fallen. Finished the day with 29 miles. My goal was to hit 30 miles today but miscalculated and ended up 1 mile short. Finished with a 2 day total of 51 miles. I couldn't have asked for a better group to run with!! Well it's all finished! Went into this race feeling the best I've ever felt. My goal was to run under 1:40.00 and beat my best time ever in a half marathon which was 1:41.00. Today I finished in 1:35.32 and was in the top 500 to cross the finish line. So now along with marathons and an ultramarathon I will continue to try and run under 1:30.00. A couple highlights today were...Indy driver Sarah Fisher handed me water at the speedway, mile 3 I took a drink of water while running and threw it on the ground and it dumped in my shoe, was around when Union City Track athlete Reagan Hoggatt finished her first half marathon and saw a proposal at the finish line of 2 former Union City Indians! Thanks to elite runner and fellow Newton Athlete Becca Pizzi for the encouraging words last night. If you don't know her you need to look at her accomplishments!!
