The Carlos Faint TM
Don Carlo(s), Verdi
Roberto Alagna, Théâtre du Châtelet, 1996 Rolando Villazón, Royal Opera House, 2008 Jonas Kaufmann, Opéra Bastille, 2017 Luis Lima, Royal Opera House, 1985
You know what I find really funny? That according to Schiller's play - Carlos wasn't always a wussy. Heck, he apparently used to be quite an intelligent, fierce young man and wasn't really all that different from Rodrigo character-wise, before all that bullshit with Elisabeth happened.
And yet the whole fandom collectively decided that he's a man child, a baby, needed to be protected forever and always, and Rodrigo's pretty much his baby sitter even though he's apparently two years Carlos's junior.
And I love this, I don't want this to change, I'm totally guilty of it too. Just a funny concept, if you think about it lol
an iconic duet with an iconic fall (which starts at 5:42)
