Welcome to the Lab

The lab was lit dimly in many places and kept with a notable chill in the air but it was clean, oh yes, very clean and meticulously organized. It’s owner had the location of everything in there memorized, but now that he had an assistant on the way, everything had been labelled. Not only labelled but order in the labels themselves what went from left to right in drawers and on shelves.
His specimen storage containers and drawers were all empty save for things that corresponded specifically to this experiment. There would be no distractions, this had all his attention. He had already learned much and corresponded with engineers for the final stages, but that was still months away. He had not expected to need a second pair of hands, but the project had continued to grow the further he got into it.
At this stage in the experiment he had learned from previous mistakes and the specimen was enclosed in a sterile enclosure from the neck down, with delicate procedures done with integrate VR that controlled the instruments within the quarantined sanctuary. Early on the specimen had been splayed open and worked on manually without computer assistance, but the species proved susceptible to a slew of contagions and bacteria, that even the most clean of labs contained. After several close calls of losing the specimen, the verdict was personally reached that it was more valuable alive for efficiency of the continued research and the new set up was acquired.
Lukta raised his head as the light went on above the door. He brought up the video feed of the entrance his facility. He sounded out a please ‘mmm’ and nodded to himself. On time. Yes, yes, very good.
He went out the door and down the small corridor past the decontamination area that his assistant would have to go through first and stopped in front of the main doors. He did not open them and instead held his thumb down on the comm button and spoke through that.
He chose to forego a greeting and got straight to the point. “Did you read all the required material I forwarded you?” After the initial screening of potential aids, he had sent large documentation of his medical observation, hypotheses and intended next steps, along with all the documentation that had been made upon the first closer encounter with this species and original dissection of a recent living specimen.
