Sometimes when I write fanfiction I swear I become J.R.R Tolkien. Do we need a entire page to describe how his ass looked in his underwear? No. Is it there anyway? Yes

Fandom Hate and Why You Just Shouldn't
It seems like every time I'm talking to new cosplayers lately somehow the topic of 'Homestucks' comes up and I find myself awkwardly raising my hand and being like woooahhh check your privilege, you're talking to a Homestuck right now. Honestly it's stupid though because I have found myself saying "but I'm not one of those Homestucks" and then I stop and realize how arrogant I sound. Really fandom hate isn't okay. You shouldn't generalize a fandom. You also shouldn't treat people that cosplay from a fandom like shit automatically because they're young or 'probably annoying' or 'probably don't know how to work body paint'. You know the way I look at it is, Homestuck is a fandom that attracts a lot of young fans. It's kind of like how Naruto used to be back in my day *breaks a hip*. Kids have a lot of energy. They also do dumb things. They NEED to be reminded about proper con etiquette sometimes and that's okay. Think back to your weeb phase. You probably had one. Lord knows I did. But overall my point is that you shouldn't fandom hate. Everyone deserves respect unless they give you a VERY SOLID reason to dislike them. and if that happens don't take it out on the fandom but address it with the individuals. The hate is what has driven a lot of Homestucks to be very shy and almost afraid of other cosplayers at cons. I've gone up to compliment Homestucks while in other cosplay and had them look at me like I was messing with them or going to eat them. Which is seriously sad. You shouldn't make kids afraid to receive negative comments just because they are in a fandom that you yourself do not care for. Be respectful. Be polite. Address actual issues calmly and appropriately without making generalizations. Thank you ^___^
