Don't you think British royals Tumblr fandom has gone crazy? All people do with their time is fight with each other about two women who don't give a damn about anyone on here. Yet people spend all day long accusing or defending these women as if it's the most important activity of their day and it's somehow going to make a difference. Die-hard bloggers clearly have major social/psychological issues in their real lives. Do you people seriously not have anything better to do in the real world?
I don’t think it has gone crazy, it is still a pass time for most it is just that this pass time seems to involve more calling out bullies and the ugly things said then it used to be. As remember this is a hobby and people do have lives and even when here people can be multi tasking - I can be here while also doing paperwork and other form filling for work and sorting things out for my volunteer and charity work.
People do have real lives but what you have to realise this fandom is the real world sure royals may not see what we write but it does have real world consequences. Something Kate fans who have tried to dox in the past or the Meghan haters/tinhatters now need to realise and that is the whole point.
Imagine a girl seeing all these racist talk such as black or mix race girls are not human, are monkeys, should know their place, don’t belong in the RF, are not worthy of love and shouldn’t be in the press. Imagine how she would feel?
Someone who wants to be an actress thinking acting is akin to porn or being a whore/prostitute because that is what tinhatters are saying, constantly talking about actresses are essentially just paid by the hour girls. Or just the constant bad talk of even the press of how actresses are lower than the low. Again think of people reading that especially if you are or want to be an actress?
Young girls reading these things will be affecting THEM as no Meghan will not see them but young girls may and it can cause pain and distress and cause lasting damage especially mentally.
On the other hand people saying these things if they are not stopped they will continue and they will not get the message it is wrong, that it will not be tolerated and they could keep doing it and say it not only to people online - like above and cause problems - but do it in real life too and it will spread online and in to ‘real life’. It has to be nipped in the bud to be shown it will not be tolerated and it cannot spread.
So while you ask if I have something better to do, well I think not tolerating the belittling, the racism, sexist, classism, bullying that I see is a good use of my time.
You also ask about contributing to the real world, well the fandom is not make believe, it is not some isolated place, actions have consequences, in fandoms, on the internet whether you are nameless/faceless or not.
Bullying is bullying and whether it is here, with the kids I teach or anywhere else, I don’t tolerate it
