It would’ve been incredibly sexy of Blizzard if they had Lucio bringing the Overwatch squad to his place after they dealt with the Null sector, and Symmetra was waiting for his return. She could’ve been helping him to keep track of enemy spawn points and prepare a teleporter for the team to fast travel to various places in Rio
This is a gift for @andorahsart as a birthday gift but also for her fantastic work on those sick comic.
For this one I decided to do her favorite ship which is Symmetra x Luico which is one of the data they went after they fight against Vishkar together to change things in Rio. (Which I included the infamous tower but as a easter egg if you play LuicoBall)
Incase you wondering, why Lucio wasn’t wearing his “robotic legs” is that I found it hard to draw it so i just included him wearing jeans, if you guys don’t mind it.
Enjoy and i hope you have a wonderful birthday and a better future for your blog.
I like to imagine that Lucio and Symmetra have to do an undercover mission together, and while on that mission he finds out Sayta can dance like hell. So they slowly bond over music until they start blending styles. Lucio eventually does a whole B-Fusion album with her in the music videos.
I just made this symmphony fanart, it’s really .....weird my style, i didn’t learn how to make somethings, that’s why my draw is so .....MEH x’D But i’ll pratice more. Hope you liked my shitty sketch >< i really think this shipp needs more fanarts
Cross-posted to ao3. Thank you once again to @electricpoolshark for helping me edit this!
Satya woke up with her back against the wall, as usual.
It was something she had gotten used to at Vishkar, back when a ten by ten cubicle was her entire home. She had kept her bed pressed against one wall to save space, and in the process grown accustomed to the sensation of hard light against her back as she went to sleep. Even now, she did not have much space; part of living in a recommissioned Overwatch base included accepting the fact that even the roomiest bedrooms were essentially barracks, minus the complete lack of privacy. Regardless, she had adjusted well to the space. It did not clean as easily as her room in Utopaea, and she had to make her way around a queen-sized bed instead of the twin she was used to, but it was more of a home than Utopaea had ever been, so the exchange was well worth it. In front of her lay Lúcio, curled up into the smallest ball he could manage. Satya had to admit that was a very small ball, given that he did not wear his prosthetics to bed.
It was almost funny how they had agreed to push their current bed into the corner in the same way. Lúcio hadn't been opposed to it, not in any significant way. But they both knew it was a weird request, and at the time Lúcio hadn't known much about stimming or the various forms it took. Hell, Satya herself hadn't understood it fully; Vishkar hadn't been exactly eager to encourage her differences, even when it would have meant greater performance from her.
Just one of Vishkar's many crimes.
It was still odd to Satya to think of her former employer this way. In many ways, they had rescued her from a life of suffering, provided that she could have lived at all in the poverty of her village. Of course, they had then used her for their dirty work and confined her to a cubicle when they weren't using her. Ironically enough, it had been Lúcio who had shown her that she need not live in such conditions, even when she would have considered him a mortal enemy.
God, and to think that was just a few years ago now.
And now, here she was, lying across from the love of her life, a man whom she once would have gladly seen imprisoned or worse. They had both changed so much since then. He was more driven now; not that he had ever been particularly unmotivated, but he had lacked purpose during that time, and it had shown in his tactics. It was she, however, who had changed the most, if not in personality then in values. She had slowly begun to question Vishkar's orders, and by the time they realized it, it was far too late for them to do anything about it. After that, she had began to question their motivations, and eventually even their goals. The last part had to have been Lúcio's influence, although at the time she wouldn't admit to it. After all, she had spent her entire adolescence and adulthood under Vishkar's influence, learning and knowing only their teachings. It wouldn't make sense to assume that she had changed such a fundamental part of her being on her own.
For his part, Lúcio had come to understand just how much structure Satya needed in her life, and why. And in doing so, he had become part of her routine, as a friend once she left Vishkar, and eventually as a lover. He wasn't perfect in the beginning, that much went without saying. He had been so chaotic, and had insisted that such was the only true way to live. In many ways, he still was chaotic; even in serious situations, he rarely prepared more than a skeleton of a plan, and even more rarely followed it. His idea of a structured lifestyle was playing hockey with the same group of people at the same time twice a week, and playing everything else by ear.
In the beginning, he had tried to force that onto her, too, not knowing that their needs were so different. Of course, she couldn't blame him for that, not after everything; after all, had she not done the same to him? To his family and friends? Besides, as he had grown to know her, he also grew to understand the structure she needed, and even began to provide it where he could.
And now, here they were. Lying together as the sun rose, still ensnared by the thrall of sleep. Satya freed her hand from his and moved it up to his face, as if to tell him to wake up. Of course, it probably wouldn't work. On the rare occasions that she did wake up before him, it was generally because he had stayed up well past what was healthy, usually to help someone with whatever project they happened to be working on. And in such cases, it would take more than a gentle nudge to wake him.
Regardless, he aware of her in some capacity, given that he stretched out ever so slightly and nuzzled into her hand in response. She wished she could reach out with her other arm to hold him even closer, but such would require her to get out of bed and put it on, so she decided to stay and enjoy the morning as long as she could. Still, that did not mean that she had to enjoy the morning alone. "Babe," she whispered. "It's time to get up."
"Mmm," came his response. "Five more minutes."
Satya chuckled at that, but decided that no, she was not going to wait five minutes lest it turn into thirty and the beauty of the morning be gone by the time he woke up. And so, in one deft movement, she rolled on top of him and turned his face towards her. Clearly, this had been the right thing to do, as he finally looked up at her, yawned, and smiled. "Well, you're quite perky this morning."
She snorted in response and lowered her face to his. "Can't help it, waking up next to you."
"Oh, I see. Don't suppose I could convince you to let me go back to sleep?"
"Not a chance. Although, if you're determined to stay in bed, I can think of other ways to spend our time."
Lúcio paused, then snickered. "Well, if that's how it's gotta' be," he said, and finally, finally, brought his lips up to meet hers. And so they shared their first kiss of the day, morning breath and all.
You said lucio/symmetra was your ultimate otp...i'm intrigued by it but since there's so little around I haven't fully gotten into it! Could you share some of your thoughts on it o: ? i'm definitely interested on what you think their dynamic is like! I know you said you wanted people to tell you about their ships but I can't stop wondering about this ship since you mentioned it...
ur all horrible enablers, shame on u
If I put all my feelings about this ship in a book, it’d look like that book where that one dude printed out all of Wikipedia, so instead have some headcanons I have on their dynamic (and also this turned out a bit longer than anticipated)
They’re way more similar than they think they are and everytime someone points it out they both argue like siblings when someone tells them they look alike.
Like, let me give a brief description and you try to guess whom I’m talking about: Super idealistic, believes in a better world for everyone. Wants to make people’s lives better and cares deeply about the suffering of others. Comes from a very poor family but has risen above that by virtue of their talents. An artist and uses their artistic skill in their fighting style. Has strong ideals and is prepared to face overwhelming opposition for them.
I think on some level they’re aware of how much they have in common but in the beginning they refuse to face the facts, because they do not want to be associated with someone like that.
And they hate each other. And, as everyone knows, hate is an attractional force. It’s not like disgust where you try to stay away from the other person. No, they hate each other and everytime they’re in roughly the same spot (like, a continent) they inevitably end up finding and shouting at each other over everything they could possibly disagree over.
And there’s a lot they disagree about and they miraculously find more everytime they argue.
If Satya says she likes a movie, Lúcio will hate it by default and argue with her about all the problematic shit in it and of course an evil heartless demon like her would like that movie. If Lúcio dyes his hair blue for Christmas, Satya will change her entire wardrobe because the colour blue is so unsophisticated and simplistic, she can’t be seen dead with it.
And there’s a breaking point somewhere, because both of them know they don’t have all the answers and the other isn’t all wrong in their accusations. Lúcio breaks down someday because damn her, Satya is right, the people in his favela are still poor, they are still hungry and thirsty, still sick and unable to pay the hospital bills, still miserable and he doesn’t know how to fix it, and maybe Vishkar would have fixed it and maybe giving up their freedom wouldn’t have been too high a price to pay.
In turn Satya can only take so much of him using every little questionable decision Vishkar ever made against her. Yes, he’s right, and she hopes he’s happy now that he got her to admit it. Vishkar did horrible things, she knows that better than anyone and he doesn’t have any idea what he’s talking about, but she knows, she’s seen it, she was there for so much of it. And maybe they would have all been better off without Vishkar.
That’s when the big reversal comes. The old trope of Person A seeing their archnemesis do something cute/altruistic/angsty and having to rethink their opinion on them.
Maybe Lúcio tries to get clean water to a village/part of town/the moon and has to grudgingly ask Satya for help, who builds a fully functioning water-system out of hardlight in a matter of days and never asks anything in return. Maybe Satya is confronted with people who she can’t help and she doesn’t know what to say, because there’s nothing she can do, but Lúcio comes along and somehow finds the right words.
Or it’s much more personal and intimate. Them stumbling upon each other when they think they’re alone. Satya hiding away, because Overwatch is still new and strange and full of people she doesn’t understand and who don’t understand her and she’s so homesick she wants to cry.
Lúcio, curious against his will, trying that hardlight stuff out for himself (he adapted their sonic technology it can’t be that hard) but of course he fails and sort of sits there looking at his sorry deformed turret, wondering how she can make it look so easy.
Around that time is the point where they realise they can achieve much more working together than they can using all their energy antagonising each other. And boy, imagine that team. They’re both determined, neither will stop until they reached their goal and suddenly you have that times two, two unstoppable forces meeting objects who really wish they were moveable right about now.
They learn a new appreciation for each other, admire the other’s skills, their dedication and passion, see the good in the things they used to hate about the other.
They still argue sometimes, because their beliefs do differ and that’s never going to change. And during one such argument one of them may say something along the lines of “Ugh, you’re so obnoxious, I don’t know why I fell in love with you.”
There’s this really long silence where both are like “Did I/she/he just say that? What the hell? What do I do now? What’s even happening?” But both of them find that the thought of being in love with each other isn’t as abhorrent as they may have imagined.
And then there’s lots of kissing and dates (they try the traditional route first until they figure out they work much better together if they don’t try to fit into roles society determined and just do it their own way)
