I browse Facebook a lot, and by browsing I mean I open up FB and scroll down my news feed like a madwoman, looking for things I haven't yet seen or, of course, animal pictures. Every now and then a sponsored offer catches my eye, usually ones that promise freebies or discounts. I usually say, “pass” and move on because I know there's got to be a catch.
However, one day I was scrolling through madwomanly when an ad for a free necklace popped up. Now, I'm not a jewelry girl by any means. I have my ear lobes pierced, but no earrings in. I have my right cartilage pierced, but I've never changed the bar and my belly button is pierced, but I change the bar or whatever every...well, I don't know—6 months? As far as bracelets go, they tend to get in the way and necklaces, I wear once...and lose.
I do keep rings on, but only if they don't tarnish on my finger. I have two on: one I bought from a friend who was selling catalog items to earn cash and my high school class ring that my late father insisted on me getting because, as he said it, “You only graduate high school once.”
Jumping back to the necklace thing, I used to wear necklaces often, but nothing fancy. Always novelty ones that I made myself or ones that just don't seem to go with anything but I'd wear them anyway.
I was intrigued by this “Free Necklace” ad I saw and it looked like such a pretty thing, so I clicked. Clicked out of curiosity, clicked to see what's the catch. No catch, just pay shipping. Which, okay, I guess that's kind of the catch, but unlike most free offers that charge you the shipping at the cost of the item (rip off!), this offer had shipping at a normal, reasonable shipping rate—$8.95. Okaaaay, some of you are rolling your eyes and saying, “But that sounds like the cost of the necklace.” What if I told you the necklace was $40? What if I told you that, unless you mail something via Media Mail, you're going to be paying around that to mail it? Then would you change your mind? The company running this promotion is called Luna Daze, and upon later inspection noticed that right now they have quite a few of their necklaces on sale for $0.00...just pay shipping. I'm not sure why, and I won't question it, but if you're looking for a steal... The necklace, when it arrived, came packaged in a regular puffy yellow envelope. Inside the bubble mailer was a necklace with a cardboard tag slipped inside of a plastic sleeve. The free necklace was gorgeous and exactly as the picture showed, minus a few slight variations in the flower petals. That's right, I said flower petals.
The particular necklace advertised was their Wildflower Love Necklace. There were at least a dozen color combinations you could choose from and all of them were precious in their photos. I chose the blue and dark red combo, which became a “JUST CHOOSE ONE ALREADY” decision because frankly, I wanted one of each. The pendant containing the flowers is larger than I expected, measuring by eye at about 1.5” wide and 1.5” tall and less than .75” thick. It seems durable, yet delicate. You could wear it and bump into things and it would be fine, but if you dropped it on a tiled floor, it may break. The chain is a simple ball chain where the balls look to be less than .032” in diameter. In time, I may get myself a thin link chain to replace the ball chain to make its appearance more delicate, but for now I'm content. The chain is long enough where I don't need to “undo” it to put it on; instead I just slip it over my head.
I'm not a flower connoisseur, but the two tiny blue flowers and the two red flower behind them are just so dainty and cute. They're pressed for preservation and just perfect. And this is coming from someone who prefers not to receive flowers for the sheer fact they die too quickly!
As I mentioned earlier, I went back to their website to look at what else they had, and a lot of their necklaces are free or discounted. Now my plan is to go back again and buy a thing or two (or six...you know) at full price just to lend my support. I don't know if I'll feel comfortable just going on to get free necklaces. They also sell accessories and clothing—all of which are so, so cuuuuute! I have my eye on their leggings and dresses. Anyway, show LunaDaze some love and go check them out! The URL is simple and straightforward: www.lunadaze.com! I'll show off the things I get after I place my next order! Stay beautiful! <3 *mk P.S. Valentine’s Day is coming up... ;) <3
