MALACHI: 13, 20, 26, 39, 41, F, H
13. What color do they think they look best in? Do they actually look best in that color? Black, of course! Malachi is, for better or worse, a very ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ sort of person. He’s been wearing black for so many years that any other color feels wrong. Personally, he could benefit from some brighter colors, and he looks good in blues, but the starkness of it suits him.
20. If they were asked to explain the difference between romantic and platonic or familial love, how would they do so?“?????” Malachi barely understands love, PERIOD, let alone the myriad flavors of it! He would give an extremely literal, cookbook answer: “Er… I think… romantic love is, at first, a combination of lust and interest in a person’s traits as something new and interesting. Zest and fascination. While familial is a comfort through shared traits and familiarity, resulting in a… nostalgic, home-like feeling? Which is, I suppose, why you marry the one you love–so that, by the time you learn about them and become familiar with them, the romantic interest can naturally fade into the familiar, nostalgic, home-like appreciation of any other part of your family. So I guess they are the same? This is a very hard question!”
26. What is their preferred mode of transportation? It USED to be walking, before he lost a lung and that became painful. He’s now deeply appreciative for Lark’s cart, if confused about how it works from an anatomical perspective.
39. How easy is it for them to ignore flaws in other people? Far, FAR too easy. Mal is INFAMOUS for conveniently overlooking other people’s flaws–”Oh, you tried to kill me? That’s okay, I forgive you! Let’s be friends!”–in his mission to redeem everyone. HOWEVER, notably, this does not mean he FORGETS these flaws exist–he keeps careful record of the flaws of those around him, and is fairly uncanny at picking them out.
41. How do they feel about children? Children are cute! Mal admires their honesty and their bluntness, and the whole potential-for-our-future thing. He’d rather not have one, though; they’re very germy.
F) What do you feel when you think of your OC (pride, excitement, frustration, etc)? COMPLICATED FEELINGS. I like him, though. Mal is my complicated, deeply-troubled, deeply-promising, weird good egg.
H) What trait do you admire most? Several! I admire how, when he sinks his teeth into something, he doesn’t give up–how even when he hates himself and thinks he’s the worst person, good only for making mistakes, he’ll still stand up for what’s right. I like how he doesn’t lose his head in a crisis. I like his friendliness and natural way with people in spite of his crippling anxiety. I like his bookish ways and his careful note-taking. Also, his hair is neat.
