Extra Typology Vol #1 - Lunar Funfacts
(I am sooooo one of these.)
Stats: Passive and Negative -
(That means, sees the environment as something that acts upon you rather than something for you to change, Negative is prolly closer though not necessarily interchangeable with “Negativist” in the socionics sense: What is not there is more easily noticed. This combination results in a “guarded” personality. Perhaps the most negative of the negative types.)
Rough Analoga: IxxP, 4 or 5, Melancholic or Supine, Sensitive, Idiosyncratic, Solitary, Leisurely
Particularities:
Basics: pale, cool, silent and secretive, very private, reflective & withdrawn, introspective, inconspicuous/lowkey
Eyes usually downcast or prone to looking away, can’t into eye contact
Not much for parties; If invited, will usually be found in a coner, observing more than participating
First tendency to any suggestion tends to be “No”, simply incabanble of acting fast, being hurried or maing quick decisions
Protip: Rather than pressing or trying to persuade them to go along with something (which is just likely to elicit stubborn rebellion), lowkey make the suggestion in advance and give them time to consider (At this point I realize that my brother is also one of these) - that will work sometimes, but abrupt suggestions never work
Lack of quick actionism can be useful in crisis - though timid & passivein day to day life, they may remain cool-headed & detached when everyone else is panicking
Night people, can tolerate the graveyard shift more than others; Prefer dim lighting
Strenghts:
Sensitivity
loyalty
persistence
careful attention to work detail
enjoyment of solitude
Common Pitfalls:
Fearfulness - When the timidity & sensitivity is taken a bit to far. Can lead to preoccupations with dark imaginings
Tendency to lose Touch with rest of the world - Related to the above
Wilfulness - Stubbornly resists being forced into anything beyond the point of profuctivity
Issues with Prioritizing - Cannot determine if an activity, like, say, a minor hobby, is worth the time & energy being sunk into it
Career Recomendations:
emergency response, ie. paramedic
all-night service in hotels or restaurants
anything requiring attention to detail & concentration - librarian, data entry, legal research
anything requiring tolerance for solitude and sustained concentration
In relations:
Though not very social & generally prefer solitude, they do form strong, lasting bonds
The kind of friend that you can lose touch with for 5 years and then continue your conversation where you left off
Easily content with family life, at least with the right mate
Intertype Relations:
Ideal mate is Saturn; Tend to give each other lots of space
Also works great in a boss/employee relationship - The Saturn will work out/organize the broad strokes & leave the details to the lunar; Generall get along as friends as long as the Saturn isn’t too dominant
Lunars also frequently marry each other
Less likely to get along with Mercury or Martials, might find them to hurried or too (coverty or overtly) pushy; Friendship requires some mutual understanding & let-live attitude
Interactions with Jovian or Venusian types fairly neutral - will work togther just fine but not necessarily drawn towards them
Though Solars kind of occupy similar spaces with the arts & realm of childlike fantasy, they can be perceived as annoying because of their optimism. Optimist & pessimist might struggle to find common ground
How to get along with:
Relating can take work but also be worth it
If you’re a friend or partner, you’re probably among a select few that have been granted the rare privilige of being allowed into a pretty guarded life (Or, less pretentiously: If they bother peopling for you, they like you)
Conversely as family or co-worker you should keep in mind that you were not chosen & try to respect their privacy & need for introvert time
How to parent:
Cool it with the gender norms, especially with boys
Do not force them to extrovert - attempts to get them to participate in sports, be the center of attention etc. will just give you an emo teen and could very easily ruin their self esteem
Though less outwardly affectionate than most kids, they actually require a LOT of love & support as well as protection/safety/reassurment
Don’t like hurry or surprises
Respect it when they don’t want a hug
If you eff up, and they make it big as an artists, you’ll go down in history as the cold-hearted parent who traumatized their tiny sensitive hearts
Subtypes/ Aspects:
Instinctual: Consistent though not very experimental people, reliably good cooks, might work in service industry
Moving: Combine their precision with pleasure in movement and spatial relationships, eg. ballerina, technician, interior designer
Intellectual: Most slow acting people of all; Deliberate and contemplatve - sholars, mathematicians, philosophers, isolatedly pursuing some exotic subject on college campusses
Emotional: Very creative, painters, musicians or most often, writers. Dilligently practices technique in solitude, reveals private sensitive inner life through art. Religious individuals may be monk material.
