To celebrate the release of the Neil Armstrong biopic out next week, First Man. Neil Armstrong was also my first hero. Leaving hospital on my 5th birthday and the same day that Armstrong first set foot on the moon, 21 July 1969 (for every country this side of the Atlantic) was an exciting time for a little 5 year old boy. Growing up the live launches of Saturn V rocket and the subsequent live broadcasts of their splashing down in the Pacific ocean was like watching real like superheroes, gods amongst men.
