Out and about in Sydney // CNY 2015
Sydney - the melting pot of diversity. The city full of life. It's 2015 and this week, we celebrate Chinese New Year. The Alphatise HQ is lucky enough to be located in Pyrmont - and though there is a lot going on within the office - it's nice to appreciate our surroundings and the beauty of the city we call home.
Chinese New Year is the most significant event of the year in the Chinese calendar and is observed worldwide. In true Sydney form, we have embraced these festivities by holding various events across the city spanning over three weeks. Curiosity and hunger led me to wander down to the Lunar Markets in Pyrmont located opposite to The Star on Pirrama Road after work on Tuesday. What I found I was certainly impressed with. Let's just say, both my curiosity and hunger were quenched as I indulged in gyoza and delightful mango with sticky rice.
The market was bustling with people, delectable food stalls and vibrant lanterns. It was a charming evening to enjoy with friends, and something I would recommend for all to explore. It's wonderful to see such a cultural embrace from the city of Sydney and I'm eager to experience more of these unique festivals. Can anyone suggest some more 'must do' things around Sydney?
The festivities will continue until the 22nd of February, and if you're around, be sure to also check out the lanterns of the Terracotta Warriors, Chinese New Year Twilight Parade, Dragon Boat Races and Chinatown. More info on these events available here; http://www.sydneychinesenewyear.com/.
In the mean time, whether you're in Sydney or elsewhere, be sure to take time to enjoy your surroundings and all that your town or city offers. We're all guilty of getting caught up in work and forgetting to appreciate the beauty that constantly surrounds us.
Enjoy the rest of your week.
