Towels are valuable currency
All the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders are going on a field trip today which:
-is good because then they won't be here and everything will be quieter
-is bad because the ridiculous vice principal-like entity who organized the trip (presumably months ago) neglected to EVER inform me (the sole lunchlady) that 55 of our students (roughly 1/3 of the student body) would be gone for lunch today. So now I have roughly 1/3 of the food that will not be eaten. And I guess it's no skin off my back, it's not my money they're spending or my food they're not eating, but at the same time I am astounded that LITERALLY NO ONE in the past weeks ever thought to tell me. I happened to find out through one of the paras who happened to mention it to me yesterday. Which, coincidentally, is exactly how I found out about the last field trip (except that one was actually during lunch, on the day).
