lily was silent as she watched him. she would never say she understood what he was going through -- she didn’t, and she never would. But she did understand frustration at not being sure where to go in a difficult situation; at the stagnant grip that threatened to choke if you didn’t move FORWARD. even if you didn’t know which way forward was. 

she let him speak, pouring herself another drink. butter beer, that’s all it was, though, with the turn this conversation was taking, she might as well offer him something a bit STRONGER. being a prefect had it’s perks. there was an old bottle of confiscated firewhiskey stashed in her trunk right now. 

“ i wish i knew what to say,” she finally spoke up, sitting back in her chair. she didn’t even know fully what had happened. just that it was something BIG, big enough that sirius faced expulsion. big enough that james had turned his back on his BEST mate. big enough that remus seemed more stressed than normal. 

“ i wish i had answers, rem.”
