1- Were you named after anyone?

A famous actress from the movie Romancing the Stone. It's just occurred to me that I haven't seen a single one of her movies, I don't think.

2- What is your dream job?

Are you kidding me? Philanthropist billionaire. I wouldn't do shit but I'd be so good at spending money. You know my taste in commissions is second to none. And I'd be handing out hundred dollar bills on the street as daily practice.

3- Do you have children?

Nah.

4- What's your eye color?

Blue/grey.

5- What's the first thing you notice about people?

I suppose how they hold themselves, whether they seem self-assured or entitled or a little too accommodating. I've had to think about it a lot re-entering the corporate world and I apply that thinking to everything now.

6- Do you use sarcasm a lot?

Nope.

7- Do you prefer scary movies or happy endings?

If those are my choices, happy endings. If I can be split hairs, my true preference is for stories and endings that feel cohesive (by whatever logic they aim to follow) and true.

8- Do you have any special talents?

Umm.

No.

9- Where were you born?

You know where! The greatest French-speaking city in the world.

10- What are your hobbies?

Wandering the streets, whatever cultural things are happening in my city, hanging out, going to the pool (now that it's a hundred degrees outside), reading, learning Spanish! Finally!!

11- Do you have any pets?

I am friend to all bodega cats.

12- What sports do you play/have you played?

I do things like sports under duress and great persuasion from health professionals. That said, I did mention pools just above, so let's say swimming.

13- How tall are you?

Not very.

14- Favorite subject in school?

Foreign languages were always easy classes for me. And I love learning grammar, like a freak.

9. which do you prefer, hot coffee or cold coffee?

despite the unloved-by-me stereotype of gays' preference for iced coffee, I drink it hot even in the summer. I do enjoy the occasional cold brew with oat milk (deliciously homemade at a few places I've been), but I'll generally take iced tea over coffee!

22. what type of person are you?

ooh someone who loves to bite off more than she can chew and then cry about it. I love adventure, and obsessively overanalyze my actions in the hope that I'll face the consequences with clear eyes. I'm a bit of a coward and face a daily fight against the impulse to hide (it's a muscle I've gotten good at flexing, I'm happy to say!). I love learning. I'm thoughtful and do my best to be kind. I would rather change my life to prop up features than I want to cultivate rather than sink in a miserable mire that wrings out the worst in me. I do everything in my power to fight complacency and apathy because to me that is the end of everything. It may not surprise anyone that I had an intense therapy session this week.

33. the last adventure you’ve been on?

A minor one as I ventured downtown awash in misery: there are some streets that I walk past without ever entering, as if there were some that I subconsciously favor and some that barely register in my mind. It's also worth noting that I am easily confused by streets that are named rather than numbered, no matter how long I've lived here. I walked from some neighborhood or another, and then down a street out of sheer relief that it was one of the numbered ones. Walking down, I saw a cultural center that I had visited once and have thought about periodically since in a "where the hell WAS that" way. And then I came across a cute niche bookstore that I've had similar thoughts about, whose location scratched the back of my mind because I KNEW it was close to my old workplace but which for the life of me couldn't remember. And then suddenly there was a huge cemetary, glossy and grassy, just right in the middle of this thick urban enclave and I realized in the numbly stupefied way that was possible for me in my emotional state that the city will never stop surprising me in the best way possible. I hadn't seen those places in years
