Theme: A funny drabble about our characters
Under the cut due to length
It had been easily established at their first meeting that Black*Star was a superior fighter and he often liked to shove that fact in his demon professor’s face to remind him of it…so it was no small wonder that Izaiah began to formulate a plan with which to take the cocky student down a peg or two. If you couldn’t defeat him physically, then mentally might be simplest the way to go… but socially destroying him would be much more fun.
“Black*Star, your strength really is all you’ve got going for you, isn’t it?” the demon asked nonchalantly, giving the pompous child a sidelong look.
Black*Star stopped right in the middle of his self-praise, finger pointed skyward, and stared in surprise at the unexpected statement. He blinked rapidly for a moment before lowering his finger to point accusingly at his teacher.
“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” he snapped.
“I mean you may be incredibly strong and all that, but you’re the least charming creature on the face of the Earth. You have absolutely no…appeal.”
No appeal? He was BLACK*STAR, the very image of appeal. He was godly, worthy of praise and respect! He clenched his fists and pulled his lips back in a snarl as he tried to figure out what Izaiah could possibly mean by that! But the demon didn’t both keeping it a secret, he smiled and continued his prodding.
“How about a little wager? By the end of the day, whoever can charm the most people wins.”
“Ha! That’s easy! I’ll have a line waiting outside my door by the time I leave this academy today, just you watch!”
Wtih that, Black*Star dashed out of the room, aiming for the first female he saw in the hallway, which…happened to be Kim.
“Kim!” he hollered as he skidded to a stop in front of her, he puffed out his chest and gave her a confident grin, “Lucky you, I’ve decided you’re going to come with me on a date tonight!”
Kim’s reaction was definitely not what he hoped for…she burst into laughter, such intense laughter that she doubled over and clutched her stomach. Black*Star stared at her in surprise, wondering why she found his offer so amusing…and then everything got worse when Izaiah walked up, posture perfect, a charming smile on his face, and held out a hand to Kim.
“Kim, is this brute bothering you?” he asked smoothly, placing himself slightly between the two students and giving Black*Star a wink, “Allow me to escort you to your next class to avoid any further harassment from this fool.”
Black*Star’s jaw nearly hit the floor as Kim nodded in agreement and took the demon’s offered arm, letting him lead her toward her classroom…why that little………

The next opportunity came in the form of Maka Albarn. Black*Star had cut class early to prepare himself for this next attempt, he was determined to charm the crap out of the first girl who came through the door with a foolproof means…flowers! Girls loved flowers, right? Right!
The unfortunate female pushed open the door open and found a small bouquet shoved directly into her face…
“What the…?” she shoved the flowers and greenery out of her face and glared furiously at the blue-haired male, “Black*Star, you idiot, what are you doing shoving plants in my face?”
“They’re flowers, Maka, and everyone likes flowers! Here take ‘em! That’s really charming of me, huh?” Oh boy was he trying hard…
Maka took the small hunk of flowers and stared at them for a moment, identifying them.
“Oh, gee, thanks a lot, Black*Star…do you even know what these flowers mean? This one means arrogance, which makes perfect sense, but this one symbolizes death and this one symbolizes hate.”
Black*Star stared at the pretty things and squinted suspiciously. How could flowers mean bad things?! Flowers were supposed to be good things!
He should have known this was going to be an easily thwarted effort when Izaiah showed up beside them clutching a handful of alyssum and yellow tulips, a confident and amused grin on his face when he spied the pathetic bouquet of negativity in Maka’s hand. He plucked them away from her and offered the much bigger and prettier bulk.
“Worth beyond beauty and sunshine in your smile,” Maka informed her crestfallen friend as she accepted the flowers, “You really need to take some lessons from Professor Izaiah if you’re gonna try and be nice all of a sudden.”
Maybe she had a point…maybe they both had a point. By the time the day was over, he was sure of it…because every attempt at being charming and suave had been thwarted by the demon at every turn.
“Alright, you win,” he muttered as he met up with Izaiah after class let out, “I’ll give you this one…you’ve got me beat in the charm department. But I STILL kicked your ass when we fought so don’t ever forget that!”
With that he spun on his heels and stormed off to meet up with Tsubaki to walk home…at least SHE didn’t need to be “charmed” to want to be around him. He figured he didn’t even need to be charming in the end because he already had a perfectly good partner who liked him just how he was! No point in being something he’s not.
If he’d bothered to turn back to look at Izaiah he would have seen the demon looking incredibly proud of himself.
