I feel the same tbh, her stuff gets views but it's sad she's sticking to making buzzfeed like content even after she left
Yeah I think she’s doing this type of video because she knows they get views and as a YouTuber who doesn’t have a job with Buzzfeed anymore to make an income, she does need to make money to sustain herself so I can see why she does this.
But honestly, I don’t like referring to it as “Buzzfeed like content” because the other videos I mentioned that she was a part of, the ones about being Muslim, the daughter of Asian immigrants, being mixed race, not looking like your parent(s) were all Buzzfeed videos and they have done other videos in the past about deeper/serious stuff like body image, mental health issues, politics, etc. which shows that Buzzfeed can make deeper/serious content too and they will do that as well as the clickbaity/silly videos.
The only problem is that Safiya is ONLY doing the clickbaity/silly videos and hasn’t even thought once of using her platform for something more important the way that other YouTubers have done. And the annoying thing is that she would get views no matter what type of video she did. Because back when she was still with Buzzfeed, on any Buzzfeed video, no matter what it was about, there were always A TON of comments that were “I saw Safiya in the thumbnail so I watched this video” which shows that her fans will watch the video, even if it’s a video they maybe wouldn’t usually watch.
The bottom line is, does Safiya care more about making money or making deeper content?
