Alabama continues to make headlines in marriage equality news as their Supreme Court past a ruling that stopped the issue of gay marriage licenses across the state. Essentially, overriding a federal court ruling issued just last month. Actor George Takei, best known for his role on Star Trek, has generated additional coverage of this story through a Facebook post. In it he and his husband “flip off” the State’s Supreme Court and start the spread of a new hashtag across social media, #LuvUAlabama . Mark April 28th down on your calendars as history could be made this day when the Supreme Court tackles the issue of marriage equality. Many of the major media outlets are reporting the date being set, as expected. Reuters has taken an interesting angle though on U.S. businesses’ response to the story. Nearly 400 businesses and employer groups have signed on to a brief in support of gay marriage, including Google Inc., American Airlines Group Inc., Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Johnson & Johnson to name a few.
