Apéritif || Lux + Aston

A tap on the screen ended their call, and Aston pocketed the phone. He chuckled and stood up from the chair he had been sitting in, looking out at the lively street. Cars to and fro, people, mostly tourists, wandering about, the little dives which spotted the street corners most peoples' destinations. It was nostalgic, a reflection of his first day in the state, hell the police academy wasn't too far from here, he realized. He'd have to make a stop there on a day that he knew he had free. If that day ever effectively came, one never knew how much they were being watched, and with this new girl, Armada, came even more surveillance. Texas was far, but Armada was international. Common Sense told him that she was... comfortably weary, but that her family kept strict tags on her, on both of them since they'd became so chummy. 

Yeah, I'm not going to be able make that trip.

Aston sighed, ran fingers through his hair, shook it out, made a mess of it, and turned off the light, pulling the door open so he could walk back into the house. It felt colder outside than it did in, he noted. That might have been a little bit of a problem. Aston shut the door but kept the blinds up, the city lights illuminating the top half of the apartment just enough so that he could see, the lights in the kitchen area coming on dimly so he could see. A few taps on his personal computer(All of His police equipment was literally hidden somewhere cleverly in the bedroom below, so that was a secret that he kept to himself and one girl who he used to date, another undercover officer. She was dead by his hand, unwillingly), and music began to play on the speakers mounted throughout.

He followed that up with a recipe, one he had the ingredients for, and started to prepare the food slowly, adding in his special touch to it where necessary. He knew how to cook, very well in fact, but always stuck to base formulas in the kitchen. It avoided messes for the most part, and Aston didn't like messing up good food.
