safe and sound / eve & diana
eve had felt safer at home than she did anywhere else. she knew the stay wasn’t permanent, but she didn’t feel like returning to her apartment just yet. she couldn’t handle the silence. or being alone. after everything, she needed her family. even if that meant just being around them. she had been staying in her old room, diana right by her side all the while, a warm feeling of nostalgia hitting her every time she walked past old photographs. she stirred in the night, her nightly routine of waking and making her way to the bathroom for a glass of water had been perfected to an art. eve was walking back to her room when she heard movement from behind the door, cautiously moving it open to reveal her sister, now awake and looking alarmed. “hey, peanut.” her voice was gentle, mouth curved into a soft smile. “i’m sorry, did i wake you?”
