Until they admit that they enjoy each other’s company, Luxord’s parts were written by my husband, and I edited them. This was based on an RP that we did. I really wanted to write this, and honestly, I had a lot of fun with it, and it’s really therapeutic to write them for me. I hope you guys enjoy it! Roxas sat atop the tallest tower he dared to, staring down at the endless void of heartless at the base, his eyes hollow and mind blank. He was thinking, he was sure of that, but he didn't know of what. His eyes could catch the glimmer of movement of the Shadows, but he wasn't tracking anything, just staring with his hands in his lap.

The tapping of boots along the concrete slab he sat on sounded behind him before there was a soft sigh, and the sound of leather stretching. A familiar blond sat beside him, eyeing Roxas carefully before he thought to try on some words.

“Hey,” Luxord began, not sure if Roxas would even hear him like this.

"Hey." Roxas’ voice didn't quite sound right, and the smaller blond slowly shook his head, glancing over at the other. "Everything okay?"

"Yeah... I was wondering how you're doing..? You've been gone for a while..."

"...Have I?" Roxas asked, blinking, and looking up at Luxord’s pretty, concerned blue eyes, "I didn't notice."

"I thought so... So I came to check on you and see how you're doing." Luxord’s tone was quiet, gentle, welcoming.

"I'm okay." Was he, though? "Just... Thinking." And staring at the bottom like it would be a reprieve.

"What are you thinking of?"

Roxas went quiet. He didn't really know. "Stuff."

Luxord paused for a moment before responding again, "Is any of that stuff life-threatening for you?"

"I... I don't know." Roxas sighed. He really thought that he should know better. "I keep thinking about the Shadows."

"What about them..?"

"We're not... That different. Are we?" The way he posed the question almost sounded more like a statement than anything. "Stuck doing the same thing, seeking a purpose we're never going to attain for a fate we can't..." His words trailed off and his eyelids drooped. He sighed, looking confused for a second.  "Would it really be so bad to let them win?"

Luxord paused, thinking for a moment before speaking, "You have a point... to a point." Glancing back down towards the ground, he continued, "We make our own choices... We have the ability to change our fates... As strange and twisted as it may be... We have the power to make changes to ourselves and twist what should have been."

"I don't think it counts. Fate is something concrete and liquid, like a cat. Displeasing it is easy and then you're..." He leaned forward a little, watching the shadows swarming. "...Splat."

Luxord leaned forward slightly, staring down and following Roxas’ gaze before sighing, "Perhaps things aren't always as concrete as you think... Sometimes you just need a little luck in your favor..."

"I... Don't know if I have any luck left." Roxas murmured, licking his lips. He was quiet for a moment, lost to another thought, before asking, "Do you think that I... Can be good?"

"Can any of us truly be good or is that merely something that pertains to the moment and which side of the coin you're viewing from?" Luxord always knew how to make things sound better. It sounded so much more simple like that.

Blinking in confusion for a second, Roxas considered this. "I don't want to be inconsequential." He finally managed, blurting it out.

"Then don't be."

Furrowing his brows, he stared at his hands. "Can I even do that?"

"Of course. Give them a reason to remember you."

"...Nobody will remember me, Lux. I'm not supposed to..." Exist. He sighed. "We're Nobodies."

"They'll remember you if you give them something to remember... How can they forget if you change their very lives?"

"Everyone forgets me."

"Change that." Luxord finally looked back at the younger, "Build them up or destroy them... They'll remember that."

Those blue eyes met the other's for a second and he glanced away, "And what happens if I can't do either? I die trying?"

"You at least go out... Trying."

"...What's different between dying trying and just... Going out from up here?"

"One of those means you gave it your best shot and the other means you gave up."

"What if giving up is all I got left?"

"Then you need to figure out what's stopping you and why you haven't given up yet... and fight for that."

Roxas paused for a moment, staring down at his hands before reaching over and taking one of Luxord's. He was quiet, just relishing in squeezing his hand. "What do I gotta do?"

Looking at the other's hand holding his own, Luxord smiled softly before leaning in and pressing their lips together for a moment. "..Don't leave me."

Heart hammering in his chest as they kissed, Roxas gently reached up to hold his cheek gently. "...Okay."

"I enjoy spending time with you..."

"I like spending time with you, too..." Luxord’s games always made life more understandable, and everything that he did made life seem more worth living. He would have died without the other, he thought. If he hadn’t come to see him tonight, maybe he really would have. Their lips met again and Roxas sighed softly, content.

“We should move from the edge. I wouldn’t want to see your new lease on life fall so quickly.” Luxord was on his feet in seconds, taking the other by his armpits and dragging him back. He didn’t trust Roxas to be able to stand without plummeting right now, his knees were always so weak when he got to thinking for too long. Hoisting the other man to his feet, he smiled at him gently, pulling him into another kiss. 

This time, Luxord held both of his cheeks gently, tilting his head and swiping his tongue over Roxas’ lips. Parting them, Roxas closed his eyes and leaned forward, pushing up on his tiptoes. It felt like an eternity before their lips parted again, wet and gentle as Luxord looked into his eyes.

“I think it’s you.” Roxas murmured softly, and Luxord rose a brow.

“Me?”

“The thing I need to fight for. The reason I didn’t jump.” Roxas informed, sucking both of his lips into his mouth. Luxord smiled, soft and genuine, before kissing his forehead.

“Then don’t leave me, Bug. I’ll be your reason all you want.” Luxord gently pet his thumbs over Roxas’ cheeks, watching him relax into him. 

“Okay… What about you?”

“Me? You’re important to me, too, if that’s what you want. I don’t usually think about jumping into Heartless, love.”

Roxas laughed at that, maybe too loudly and for too long. He wiped his eye after a moment, grinning up at him.

“Yeah, okay, I get it. Thanks, Lux, you’re the best.” 

“Anytime.” Leading Roxas through a portal to a safer place, Luxord hummed softly to himself, his arm around Roxas’ shoulders.

Kingdom Hearts Fic Masterlist Kings And Queens Of Nothing ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ “You know,” Luxord spoke absently, hoping to catch Roxas’ attention. He sat on the couch, half amoebaed to the other man, arm around him as he read the book in his lap, “We should get married.”

“What?” Roxas looked up from his phone, lips parted and surprise in his bright blue eyes. He bit his lip, running the words back through his head a few times; he had to have heard it wrong. “What?” He asked again, blinking several times in rapid succession. “We should,” Luxord spoke slowly as if trying to teach a toddler to focus on his words, “Get married, Roxas.” Turning slightly to try and get in the other’s line of sight, he tugged Roxas over on top of him, pulling the eighteen-year-old over his chest. “I have never felt this way about anyone, not ever. I want to have you as mine, have and hold you until one or both of us go belly up.” The shock on his face was genuine, melting into a grin that lit up his eyes. Roxas couldn’t seem to process it until Luxord gently kissed his bottom lip, convincing him to close his mouth again. “Is that a no?” “No!” Not sure what he actually wanted to do, he saw more than felt his arms shoot up, his hands cupping either side of Luxord’s face, “I mean… Wait… I… I want to.” Roxas sighed, finally, feeling lame that he didn’t quite know how to answer the question. “That’s good, love.” Luxord murmured, rubbing his cheeks into the other’s hands and sighing softly in contentment, “I’m glad that you want to. I’ve actually been thinking of an idea, instead of rings.” He practically purred, reaching up to caress Roxas’ cheek with one hand, ending up holding his chin. “What’s that?” Roxas asked, looking at the rings already on his finger. He supposed that Luxord really didn’t want to combat the already existing pieces of jewelry on his hands. “On our right hands,” Luxord began, “We’ll get a tattoo on the right, inside part of our ring fingers. King and Queen of hearts. I’d be willing to give you the Ace of hearts if you’d prefer.” “I think the Queen works.” Roxas replied earnestly, “It’s important to you and they go well together.” “You’re so sweet to me.” Luxord smiled up at him, carefully adjusting the younger man until he was nestled against his chest, almost princess style in his arms. “Thank you, lovely.” “It’s not a problem.” Roxas chirped in response, nuzzling at the other’s neck gently, “I’m glad I can do things that make you happy.” There were still times that Roxas didn’t know why Luxord had chosen him, but he was more than happy to accept it when he was feeling good. “When do you want to get them?” “You make me happy all the time, love, I promise you that.” Luxord kissed his temple and nuzzled against his hair, enjoying the scent of strawberries from Roxas’ shampoo. “We can get them the day of, or the day before, maybe?” “That sounds good to me.” “Good, I’m glad.” ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ AN: Also I am aware that Amoebaed isn’t a word but I’m gonna play Shakespeare and say that I’m making a new one. Summary: Roxas isn’t feeling like himself, but Luxord can ground what’s left of him. AN: So… I haven’t been right for twoish days, and I figured that writing something just might help me try to cope. I dunno, if it’ll work, but writing Roxas, has been helping a little bit. I hope you guys enjoy it! I usually write them with a 16-year gap, so Roxas is 17 and Luxord is 33.

Kingdom Hearts Fic Masterlist Come Find Me ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ “Roxas?”

The name seemed to stir him, if only slightly, and Roxas lifted his head just enough to be noticeable. His eyes were still vacant, and he didn’t do much more to acknowledge Luxord had spoken. The elder man sighed, taking a sip of his tea, before leaning forward and placing Roxas’ hand on the table, the cards face down. Much as he would have cheated with anyone else, the card game was on the back of his mind. “It’s been your turn for a while, now, darling.” Luxord’s voice was soft, gentle and seemed to be leading Roxas back to the task at hand. While he couldn’t remember what they were playing, he did manage to look down at his hand, and the elder’s thumb still rubbing slow circles into his wrist. “I… Sorry.” Some people assumed Roxas wasn’t sorry for spacing out. He’d do it again in five minutes and repeat the same apology, even if he meant it. His arms, eyes, and head felt heavy, he was dizzy and prickled with gooseflesh. Heat and chill battled for dominance against his skin and he didn’t know which was more concerning. Any second, now, he’d end up falling over or just being cast from life in some uneventful way, he was sure of it. Perhaps his brows drew in, or he frowned more than usual because Roxas was surprised to find Luxord had moved from across the table to stand beside him. “Come here, love,” Luxord whispered softly, holding Roxas’ head against his diaphragm. After a moment, Roxas turned to hug around the elder man’s waist, nuzzling his stomach absently. His hands fisted in Luxord’s shirt and he simply sat there, holding his breath until that seemed to escape him, too. Breathing in the seawater and cologne on the other’s clothes and skin, he sighed softly and finally looked up. “I… Don’t feel like myself, today,” Roxas muttered softly, and Luxord offered him a smile. “Nobody feels like themself all the time, my dear.” He offered sweetly, leaning down to kiss his forehead after brushing aside some hair with his thumb, “It’s okay to feel like nothing. Sometimes that’s just the roll of the dice.” Nodding, Roxas hid his face again, enjoying feeling the other’s hands carding through his hair. It seemed to soothe him until he was finally able to speak. “What do I do about it?” “About which part, dearest?” “About the… Empty, heavy feeling?” Luxord tutted a little bit, softly, and carefully reached down to pull Roxas’ hand from behind his back. He kissed it gently and patted it, before smiling sweetly. “Perhaps we should lay down. I can hold you and you can sleep it off.” “What if it doesn’t go away?” “Then I’ll be here, for you, lovely. I’ve got you, you needn’t be scared. Fate herself couldn’t tear me from you.” The thought of it seemed odd to Roxas, a scene playing through his head that could only lead them to drifting apart, but he didn’t speak of it. Instead, he nodded and allowed himself to be scooped up from his seat, brought from the card table to the bed. Laying down on autopilot, he scooted in closer once Luxord joined him, pulling him in until nary a breath of air remained between them. Their legs tangled together and Luxord hummed to him, petting his hair and cradling Roxas’ head against his bicep. Eyes falling shut, he settled in to try and rest, at least, his eyes heavy enough to lull him into some semblance of sleep. As promised, Luxord stayed with him, even if Roxas didn’t know if he slept himself. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ AN: Sometimes things just need to be written out. Having comfort when you feel like you aren’t yourself helps, even if it doesn’t fix it.
