they know how jarring the arrival to a digital hell can be and the denial that soon follows once one realizes there's no way to leave. everyone gives up eventually, a quiet defeat that this was their prison now and any hope left in getting home would slowly rot away like their mind.

still, zooble would at least try not making a bad situation even worse for another but they're not gonna be optimistic about it either.

you think she doesn't see the way her own teacher acquiesces to her so fearfully --- the way her classmates shrink away and whisper nervously as she paces the halls ? just a bunch of simpering , cowering little creeps . the hell do they know about her ? NOTHING .

but omen knows her , and they obviously think she's sick as hell .

susie spins her double - sided axe smugly , the gift evidently well cared for despite the carnage it's undoubtedly been used to inflict --- looking up at them with a curling grin .

" trust me , this thing's seen a LOT of action since you passed it over . i've clobbered a ton of bloodthirsty ass enemies --- and not a scratch on me . wish you could come see . "

her eyes are bright with a rare warmth --- there's a strangely keen edge to her brusque , harsh voice . she wants them to be impressed with her . a rare phenomenon , indeed , that she'd care about someone else's opinion . susie tosses her head carelessly .

" so , uh ... what gives . you need brownie points for your karma audit thing ?? kris is busy doin' church crap ... i've got some time . if you WANT . "

Was she tired of having this conversation? Yes, absolutely, but she wasn't surprised, either. If Joy had a villain arc and had her own magic sealed away? She'd be in agony with how much it's become an everyday usage thing for her. So many mundane things, from changing outfits to the layout of her room, was done through magic that she might explode if she were without it for any notable length of time.

So she empathized with Omen, Joy really did, but enough for her to agree to release her from all of those restraints? Ha, no.
