Another Drop To Drink || Sam & Charlie
Sam is well on her way to drunk, that much she knows and sheâs not about to get up and go anywhere so why would she bother doing anything. Itâs an off night for her and she doesnât have patrol until the next afternoon. The rest of her squad are off doing whatever it is that they do when not on patrol, Sam is sitting on her bunk, leaning up against the wall with a bottle in her hand. Today is not a good day for her. Today should be spent with her, it should be spent with Erin, because today she would be 28. Erin should be 28 today and Samâs not sure when or if Erin is even alive.
So she takes another long pull to try and wipe away the thoughts rushing through her head, and simply stares down at the drawing in her lap, Erin smiles back at her and Sam canât help but feel that sting of guilt and regret. Sheâd tried to find Erin once everything went to shit. But communication had been difficult and Sam had a duty to get to. Texas was a long way from Atlanta.
Taking a long drink again Sam can feel hot tears running down her face, sheâs not really out of uniform right now which sheâs glad for, only wearing a t-shirt and her uniform pants, her jacket is slung over the chair by her locker. She closes her eyes and leans back, wishing the alcohol would work faster so she could just forget about today.
My Idea Of Fun // Ray & Charlie
Itâs been long enough that Charlie canât be thinking of her hangover any more. Ray hopes there wonât be a weirdness between them, with their little arrangement going on. Charlieâs been kind of distant lately, and while Douglas is doing a great job filing in the gaps, Charlie is one of Rayâs best friends, heâs come to realize. And now that she isnât here, heâs feeling it.
So when he notes that familiar uniform, probably fresh off a patrol and looking tired, Rayâs so damn excited he reaches for the middle shelf bottle, pouring it into a glass as she walks up to the bar.
âIf it isnât my favorite Captain,â Ray greets with a very large grin. The other customers can wait, for right now. Ray topped them off five minutes ago, anyway. Heâs practically bouncing in place, and when Ray has that giant smile on his face, he looks much younger than his twenty-six years would suggest. The whiskey is set right in front of Charlie, neat, just the way she likes it.
At War With The Sun // Victor & Bobbie
Victorâs head settles on a thought: kill. Itâs like a little voice, whispering into his ear over and over again. First, Victor ignores it. He always could ignore it, distract himself. But the voice grows louder, more insistent. Kill, he tells himself, kill. It grows under his skin, it climbs into his head so itâs all he can think about. Kill.
He wants to kill Aiden. Killing Aiden would be a fair middle ground, bring him temper down. It would hurt Parker, which is just a bonus at this point, but Victor knows the root of his issue is simple. Itâs Aiden. He doesnât know where Aiden is, though, and the few times they have bumped into each other was purely on accident. Victor could check down by the cages, where heâs seen Aiden fight before, but if someone happens to be drawing blood when he gets down there... No, no. That wouldnât be good. He still has use for Atlanta, and he needs to keep it that way.
He takes the back alleys, hoping that Aiden is stupid enough to be back there. All Victor needs is three seconds, thatâs all it would take. Thereâs a shiv, flat against his palm in his pocket as he walks through. It would be so easy to kill him, so goddamn easy but - He hears a noise, Victorâs so hyper-alert right now he could probably hear a pin drop, and the shiv comes out.
âYou donât want to play with Victor today,â he calls out, âso come out.â

Morning Steps // Open
Shavuot will be coming up soon. Itâs a lighter, happier holiday, which Ray enjoys. As much as he loves his religion, Judaism tends to have a lot of depressing holidaus. Shavuot though, is more of a celebration of something new. Itâs food and the Torah, giving of the first grain and the Torah to Mount Sinai. Nothing depression can really be squeezed in there.
The hard part is going to be getting a hand on milk or cheese. Heâll have to do some bribing next week, which is fine because Rayâs personal stock is up right now. He sets five cards aside, just in case he winds up needing them all. Someone in the kitchen has to be willing to give up a hunk of cheese
For right now, Ray just enjoys the morning, one of the first out of the door when curfew lifts. He enjoys the crisp, spring breeze, which he knows he wonât last until the afternoon. Itâs early enough that the market will be set up, but there wonât be large groups of people for Ray to feel claustrophobic around.Â
