You know folks, the weirdest thing about being super invested in small town gothic aesthetics or whatever you want to call them, is that it's kinda hard to participate. A majority of small town gothic horror is set somewhere in the United States, and the general mood of the place is heavily set up by the atmosphere and the weather. Your honour, I live in a regular town in the mediterranean, and most of the time it's sunny. What am I supposed to aestheticize? To take photographs of? The lemon trees? Old houses long abandoned? The illegal fishing operations? The mountains and the sea surrounding us on all sides? The remnants of that old manor that burnt down in a housefire? Actually wait, now that I put it like that, I could use the ever constantly sunny weather as an ironic juxtaposition. Maybe have some sort of daylight horror going on. That would make a good movie.
