“You don’t think they’re too much?” She turned so Robyn could see her ass encased in the lacey fabric. She looked over her shoulder at her friend and chuckled. “Robyn, you’re not even looking.”

Ivy lay rested in her grandmother’s arms and was pretty close to dozing off when she heard what the older woman said. Her little face scrunched up slightly against the familiar shirt before she was pulling back so she could look up at her grandmother.

“But you do know how to love, grandma. You love me lots. You hold me like this and snuggle me and make me feel better when I’m sad. That’s love right?” she asked as she looked up to her with wide eyes.

Cora stiffened when she realized her granddaughter was still awake. She hadn’t been meant to hear all that. Her words were nothing more than the sad mumblings of an old woman with too many regrets, and the little girl wasn’t supposed to know about them at all. Not yet. 

“I’m sorry sweetheart, I thought you were asleep,” Cora said, shifting her arms slightly. “You’re right, I do love you. More than you know. Forget I even said anything, lie back down now.”

A small smile comes to Marciana’s face as Robyn agreed to go on the walk. “I don’t care where we go. I just needed to get out for a little bit and you looked like you could use some fresh air.”

“Like every other hour.” Ivy pouts as she snuggled into her pillow and gripped her blanket. “This morning it was way worse though.” she mumbled against her pillow before she was focusing on her older brother.

Roland rubbed her back gently, trying for a reassuring smile. “Ivy, mostly to quell suspicions and not because I’m nosy or want to discuss this ever again. But when did you last have your period?”
