He squints to keep focus on driving, ignoring the pain from the bullet wound ( or at the very least making a damned good show that he’s ignoring it ). ❝ I’ve got time. M’not gonna bleed out right here. ❞

     Breaking through Rick’s suspicion is a hard won fight. Without her right now, he probably wouldn’t be here, but it doesn’t open him up. He taps his thumb against the wheel, grounding his focus. ❝ Doesn’t work like that,❞ he says — a promise to remain skeptical. It’s the gunshot that fights his stubbornness though and with gritted teeth, he pulls the car to a stop. ❝ We can’t afford to get lost. ❞ A reminder, but sometimes his distrust has to be sucked up.
