I need people to remember that bad behavior isn't inherent to being part of any group, its simply a human thing.
That being said: Jax being transfem is absolutely horrible rep and is going to bring all trans people down.
- Throughout the show, Jax is presented as a "complicated" character thats very closed off and traumatized
- Also throughout the show, we watch Jax lash out rather than actually reach out for help
- This outlashing becomes abuse, especially aimed towards Gangle
- Jax feels like abuse apologia, as we're supposed to constantly defend her and its framed as her struggling instead of what it is: abuse
- Gangle and Ragatha should've gotten to go the fuck off on Jax, especially Gangle
- Jax feels like a self-pity fantasy, one of "I'm so horrible, everyone leaves, please don't leave me"
- While yes, this is common after abuse and trauma, it does not excuse becoming abusive or driving atleast one character, Ribbit, to suicide
- Don't get me started on Ribbit
Jax reminds me alot of abusers I've known in my life, including to the "trans defense" I often see used.
You do know that trans people can be bad people, right? Its not transphobia to call them out.
