Hello! I'm very curious to learn and read more about the Fae, and I'm wondering what recommending reading you (or any of your mutuals!) might be able to suggest for someone looking to learn more. :) Thanks so much! <3
i'm the type of person to read blog posts, random wiki articles, and just kinda hoover up any mention of the fae without actively seeking out Books About The Fae (cause honestly a lot of modern "adaptations" boil them down to like. regency era (white cishet) humans with wings. which is. boring. to me.) part of the issue is how loosely "fae" is defined, cause like. The Spiderwick Chronicles, Hellboy, and The Luck of the Irish are all technically about fae but hooo boy are they different! Genres!
you can ofc peruse the fae tag on this blog, i think there's even other people who asked for similar recs and got some crowd feedback. i wrote a short story about the fae called The Prince and The Stranger that's free to read here. seanan mcguire, neil gaiman, and ursula k le guin are all modern fantasy writers that have delved into the fae at one point or the other. you can genuinely learn a lot by going and reading just old school fairy tales.
as always, followers are free to chime in with their own suggestions!
oh also Shrek 2.
