Stump puffball (Lycoperdon pyriforme)

Slugs snacking on this puffball that, like other puffballs, is edible to humans too! They're not very desirable though, unlike others in the family, but the slugs seem to enjoy them.

Puffed pear-shaped puffballs. They huddle up on dead wood, a good way to tell them apart from their look-alikes. Other puffballs like the gem-studded, giant, and pigskin grow on the ground.
