so in the present is the train still there? is it ever discovered or does it eternally belong to the gyarados
i dont know how fast metal deteriorates in a freshwater environment but i would assume after a century or so of being there + gyarados damaging it occasionally has left it in some kind of state. maybe the general structure is still there but most features are unrecognisable
it isnt in a major body of water but i would assume that someone finds it eventually but i dont think anyone thinks much of it unless someone did like a survey on the lake + pokemon living in it and then actually started asking questions about the origin of the weird metal thing that the gyarados use as a magikarp nursery
