Ask me about my OC’s!
16-20 Lydia.
Thanks so much for the ask, anon!!!
16: How openly does your OC show their emotions?
Very openly. Lydia is not afraid to express her emotions, regardless of who’s looking. This gets her in trouble sometimes because she has a terrible poker face.
17: What does your OC do when they’re dealing with intense emotional pain?
Answered!
18: What aspect of your OC’s personality or essence do other people usually have a problem with?
Some people are deeply uncomfortable with her quiet, modest demeanor. For instance, she’s more comfortable in slightly longer shorts than are maybe in style, and people can be kind of weird about that in high school.
19: Is there anything others often admire about your OC?
She’s been through a hell of a lot losing Midge, and people often admire the way she manages to continue enjoying and living life after such a traumatic loss.
20: Do other people have misconceptions about some parts of your OC’s personality?
She may have been the innocent church girl at one point, but that is absolutely not the case any more. Sure, she may not always show it, but Pastor Boyd would not be pleased if he knew some of the stuff Lydia gets into.

5: What calms your OC down the best under severe stress?
Definitely music. She loves to get away and just play piano for a while.
8: What does your OC hate and appreciate on others?
She hates pushovers, bullies, and people who are unnecessarily rude. She appreciates a good sense of humor, spontaneity, and people who take the time to get to know her.
12: Is your OC mature or immature for their age?
Probably more on the mature side. Losing her best friend at age 16 aged her a lot.
17: What does your OC do when they’re dealing with intense emotional pain?
Retreat. She does her best to get away from everyone and avoid showing anyone her emotions.
22: Does your OC believe in something supernatural or not scientifically proven?
She doesn’t believe in anything like urban legends, myths, or monsters. But she does believe in some things that aren’t scientifically proven, like life on other planets.

🖊 Lydia
Hmm, a random headcanon for Lydia. This will likely be the subject of future fics, but she ends up going to college for Music-Education. She’s always wanted to be a teacher, and with Reggie’s encouragement, she decides to go for Music instead of Elementary since music has always been her true passion.
Thanks for the ask!!
Send me 🖊 + an OC, and I’ll share a random headcanon!
“On St. Patrick’s Day, I pretend to be Irish, just like on Christmas I pretend to be good.”
SHAMROCK SHENANIGANS: A RIVERDALE ST. PATRICK’S DAY DRABBLE COLLECTION
“On St. Patrick’s Day, I pretend to be Irish, just like on Christmas I pretend to be good.”
Reggie Mantle x Lydia Boyd || Requested by @sweetpeasbabydoll || 713 Words
With a cheer, Reggie slammed another empty shot glass into the bar. Rolling her eyes, Lydia set hers down more gently. She had no idea what was all in the shot, only that is was bright green and burned on the way down. They were also only a dollar per shot, meaning that Reggie was passing them out like candy.
Lydia chased the shot with a sip of cheap beer, cringing when the flavors mixed.
“How’re you doing, angel?” Reggie asked, wrapping his arms around her waist and pressing a kiss onto the top of her head. “Still feeling alright?”
“Course I am, Reg,” she replied, turning around to smile at him. Like her, he was dressed in all green. Unlike her, though, he looked absolutely ridiculous. While Lydia had gone with a green shirt and a shamrock headband Reggie had gone out in his usual green pants, suspenders, bow tie, and top hat.
St. Patrick’s Day had always been one of Reggie’s favorite holidays—not only was it the perfect excuse to day drink, but it was also the perfect excuse to annoy people.
As if on cue, Reggie’s hand shot out, nabbing Sweet Pea with yet another pinch.
“Mantle, I swear to God, I’m going to—”
Laughing, Reggie ducked behind Lydia, using her as a human shield against the taller man. Sweet Pea’s fists loosened, and he just shook his head angrily.
“You’re lucky I like her better than you, Mantle.”
“Aw, thanks Sweet Pea,” Lydia laughed. “Even if it doesn’t mean much that you like me better than this guy.” She shoved her boyfriend slightly, and he grabbed her tightly by the waist.
“Rude,” Reggie murmured, pressing his lips into the back of her neck. “Sweet Pea likes me very much, thank you.”
“Oh good,” Sweet Pea sighed. “He’s drunk.”
Lydia gave him a skeptical look. “Aren’t you drunk, too? We’ve been here like four hours.”
“Irrelevant.” Sweet Pea winked and set off back toward the bar.
At that, Reggie spun Lydia around again, holding her tight against him. “Have I ever mentioned that you look really good in green?” he asked, running his fingertips through her messy curls.
“Once or twice,” she laughed. Biting her lip, she looked at him more closely. Even though he’d been shirtless all night, this was the first time she’s really had a chance to stare him. Somehow, Reggie Mantle had the power to make even a stupid sexy leprechaun costume look good.
“My eyes are up here, gorgeous,” he murmured, cupping her jaw to guide his mouth to his for a kiss.
She pulled back with a smirk. “Woah there, slow down, Reg. I thought you weren’t allowed to kiss someone who wasn’t Irish on St. Patrick’s Day.”
“But, babe, I am Irish,” he whined, sticking his lower lip out in a pout.
Lydia laughed, dragging her hands down his chest, gripping the suspenders and flicking them back into his skin with a snap. “You are not even a little Irish, Reggie.”
“What?” His eyes widened, and he started shaking his head. “Lydia, no, no, no, you’re missing the point.”
“And what’s the point?”
He smirked, giving her that look that always signaled that there was a bad joke incoming. Then, he bit his lip, giving her a sultry look. “On St. Patrick’s Day, I pretend to be Irish, just like on Christmas I pretend to be good.”
Lydia burst out in laughter, resting her forehead on his shoulder. “Reggie, you are so full of shit.”
“What can I say, babe?” His voice lowered, and he pulled her in even closer, pressing their hips together. “Why would I ever want to be on the nice list when I can be on the naughty list.”
She rolled her eyes, running her hand through his hair and gripping his shoulders to pull herself to his height. “Alright then, so for today, you’re Irish.”
“In that case…” He leaned in close, his lips just inches away from hers. “Kiss me, I’m Irish.”
Letting her eyes drift shut, Lydia kissed him, their bodies melting together comfortably in the dim light of the bar. “You’re such an idiot, Reg,” she murmured, not pulling her lips all the way off of his.
“But I’m your idiot.”
“Sure are.”
Just curious, who’s your face claim for Lydia???
Grace Phipps (also goes by Grace Gilliam)
Ugh, I’m totally obsessed with Reggie/Lydia! Such a good story!!!
THANKS!!!! That means the world to me! I’m so glad there’s other people who love them as much as I do!
Lydia + every multiple of three <3
3. Scars or painful spots
An old piercing mark on her nose from the time she and Midge thought it would be cool to give each other nose rings. It was cool for the whole day before her parents found out.
She also suspects she’s developing some kind of carpal tunnel from all the piano playing, but it only flares up every now and then.
6. Their vices (physical or emotional)
She doesn’t have many, but Lydia’s sworn up and down she’ll never try pot again. She liked it too much, and she knows it’s not a good idea.
9. Humiliating memories
Being bullied by Cheryl in middle school for the horrible “modest” clothes her parents made her wear. As if braces, puberty, and boobs weren’t bad enough, she couldn’t even wear cute clothes or makeup.
12. Grudges and vendettas
No matter how hard she tries to forgive Chuck for years of being a dick, she’ll never quite get over how he treated her when she and Reggie started dating. Even if he is great now, it still hurts a little.
15. What it takes to make them cry
It’s not hard. Reggie does it at least monthly, sad movies hit hard, and she’s even been known to cry if Vader does something exceptionally affectionate.
She just owns it at this point, and Reggie is getting really good at discerning which cries he actually needs to deal with and which are just because the sad puppy commercial came on.
18. Things they’ll never admit
One year, she forgot the anniversary of Midge’s death. She was just so busy with her last year of college and planning for the future that it completely slipped by. No one thought anything of it, but she hates herself for missing it. She knows it’s kind of silly, but it feels like she betrayed her.
21. Turning points in their life
Midge’s death. Sleeping with Moose. Dating Reggie. Going to college. Her first job. Her wedding. The birth of her first child.
