Okay I'm back with another ask. I was thinking about when the boys do discover they're turtles, but at this point there's no way any of them have turtle instincts. LMAO. Yeah ofc, I love their work! Yeah they're gonna have a hard time connecting with some of their turtle instincts at first, since they've been kind of ignoring/unaware of them for so long. But for some reason I'm kind of imagining TMWN Mikey running into the opposite problem...?

In that picture on the bulletin board, does he recognize himself? You'd think "obviously, yes" but he underwent physical changes and he probably sees his own reflection in the lake pretty often. So does he look at that family picture and go "Yes, that's me" or is there some dissonance there?
Evidently! o w o;;; ive never gotten this many asks before...
He recognizes himself... a little? He knows it's HIM, at least usually, and it looks like him, but not... exactly. When he pictures himself in his mind, he sees Swanatello, not... THIS guy. It's a little uncanny, and it can be pretty upsetting on a bad day. The guys have had to replace the picture a few times now.
Could someone just try and keep Swanatello from the lake? Just take him away and maybe tire him down, making it physically impossible for him to escape back to the lake. What would happen?
Well, in theory, yes, they could. But they would have to physically restrain him and hold him hostage to accomplish this, which would be highly difficult because Swanatello is a force to be reckoned with, and in this situation, Swan would never stop fighting to get back to his lake. Even if his family thought that they could accomplish this, they would never put Donnie through an experience like that-- especially because they have no idea what would happen if they did. He's anxious when away from his lake and becomes highly distressed if he's not back by sunrise, and they worry that if they kept him away, something truly bad will happen to him. They currently have no idea how this magick works; for all they know he'll burn up in the sun or something. They're not risking it, at least not until they have more information...

I really hate comin in to these ask things without a proper question, but I just wanted to say. Not enough people (and the show itself, admittedly, but y'know, that's a whole situation) acknowledge that the boys' powers are THEIRS and not their weapons'. Leo is usually especially tied to his weapon, so it's nice to see him teleport without swords. Also. Mikey fighting? All over that. And Leo... he can't avoid his boyfriend forever, he is gonna have to face that music lol
It's okay, I don't mind at all! ; w ; And this is totally something that's gonna get explored a bit more in the fic, but yeah!! They're currently kinda uhhh speedrunning the whole 'unlocking ninpo' thing but just because,,, they're all panicking lol. Enough stress for a long enough period of time that their secret superpowers are like "wait, what? huh? what's going on?" and poking their heads worriedly out of their burrows or whatever. But yes! They're fully using their own mystic abilities, at the end of the day! We'll have some back and forth on this later~
