Hi, just want your opinion on something. Should I try to read One Piece manga til it's latest point before or after One Piece anime. I usually read the manga after the anime, and I tend to stop watching the anime when I'm reading the manga or vice versa, but One Piece is pretty long and I plan to download it and then convert it into a pdf version before I begin reading.
I'm happy you thought to ask me!
My preference is overwhelmingly for the One Piece manga. The OP anime started out quite good, and the voice acting and music has always been amazing, but for hundreds of episodes now, the anime has been plagued with poor animation (there's an entire blog dedicated to it), poor pacing, and too frequent mischaracterization. Even when the anime was done well, it has had a number of bad filler arcs (with the exception of the G8 filler arc). Meanwhile, the manga itself continues to have fantastic art and perfect pacing (in most peoples' opinion). The anime has also been quite censored in certain parts along the way, such as completely omitting how Luffy got the scar under his eye, and distorting Zeff and Sanji's backstory to make it less gruesome.
In any case, I will always recommend the manga, which you can torrent through through Bakabt (I just made a big post explaining the benefits of downloading it from Bakabt here). A lot of people, even though they're frustrated with the anime, watch it in addition to reading the manga because they want to know what the characters' voices sound like. So feel free to check out episodes of the anime you're curious about or would like to see in action for the sake of the excellent voice acting. There's even a handy guide that can tell you what episodes correspond to what chapters!
Oh, and for reading the manga, you might want to try using CDisplay. It's a useful program for reading manga and comics in, and it works with .zip folders and .rar files. Since the bakabt torrent includes all the volumes as .zip folders, all you need to do is drag the folder onto the desktop icon for it and you can start reading immediately! A lot easier than converting the whole manga into pdf, in my opinion.
I hope all this is helpful! If you have any other questions, or if I missed what you were asking me entirely, let me know!
