WHO WANTS TO BE MY TEST SUBJECT?
C'MON ILL GIVE YOU A KIISS!
She nodded and gave Toothless a smile. "Everything's okay," she said, looking over at Hiccup and frowning. "Except that." She pulled out a tissue and wet it before wiping away the blood on his lip from where he bit it.
"Huh?" Hiccup tried to look down his face. He hadn't even noticed that he was bleeding until that moment. Now he could taste the metalic taste of blood against his tongue.
"You're bleeding," Toothless noted with a frown, leaning over and bumping Hiccup's shoulder with his own. He was a good head taller than his rider even in this form.
Hiccup mumbled, unused to being the center of attention, "It's nothing serious." He touched a hand to it carefully.
Abby shook her head a little, mostly to hide the fact that she was wiping her eyes with Hiccup's vest, and reached up to run her hand over his head. "It's okay goose, don't worry." She swayed a bit, looking over towards Toothless.
Hiccup smiled slightly at the nickname, nodding into her touch.
Toothless hovered next to them looking sorrowful. He had been a part of the Nightmare, too, and seeing Abby and Hiccup so distraught over it upset him greatly.
Hiccup felt Abby's head turn and followed her gaze to Toothless. Pulling gently away, he said, "It's okay." He straightened up, blinking back the tears he never let fall and giving Toothless an encouraging smile. He reached up to pet Toothless' new hair. "It's all my fault you got dragged into this - both of you."
She sniffed and clenched her eyes shut, breathing deeply for a momnet before nodding and squeezing him a little. "Wasn't really you though, it was a demon that looked like you." And sounded like him and was really him, which haunted her at times, but she wouldn't let Hiccup know that. He was beatingg himself up enough as it was.
Hiccup chuckled around the lump in his throat. "More like possessed by a demon," he said, ducking his head against Abby's shoulder. "I'm sorry. I really am," he added softly.
Flinching a little when Hiccup started talking, Abby watched him from her spot in Toothless' arms. She looked for signs of him lying before relaxing and taking advantage of the dragon letting her go to run over to Hiccup and throw her arms around him in a tight hug. "I'm so glad you're back," she told him, face buried in his vest.
Hiccup swayed at the unexpected impact, bottom lip falling from his teeth before he returned her hug.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm sorry," he repeated, clenching his eyes shut. He remembered everything, the way he had just known Abby's greatest fears - and used them against her. "I'm sorry."
-skirts around Hiccup and runs over to Toothless, hugging him tightly-
Toothless' ear flaps and tail flick at the odd sensation of being hugged in this form, wrapping his arms instinctively around Abby.
Hiccup looks away, worrying at his lip. "A-Abby, I'm, I'm so, so sorry about before. I just, there were these Fearlings, creatures of shadow, and Katherine and they took over, consumed us, and- I'm so sorry." What can he say? He knew what he was doing the whole time, he just didn't care. He had only wanted to bring fear to everyone, to ruin every good dream.
Blood starts to bead where Hiccup is biting his lip and he can feel tears stinging the back of his eyes.
Toothless releases his loose hold on Abby and starts to move closer to Hiccup.
"Thank you! I was worried for a second..." Vanellope sighed in relief. "Not that I was scared or anything!"
The shadows writhed and retreated as realization dawned on Hiccup's face. What had he been doing? "No, you really shouldn't have even come near me like this! Vanellope, I am so sorry! There was this magic anon, and, and these shadow creatures- F-Fearlings- I-"
"P-Pixie Stick? Cut it out!" Vanellope backed way from the fearlings. "This isn't funny!"
"No, no, you're right," Hiccup agreed. The mocking smile dropped from his face. "I'm completely serious."
