That got his attention to the point that he stopped the cleaning he was doing at the bar and just stared at Silco for a moment. Because, well, he would be lying if he didn't admit to having such thoughts too. As dangerous as the mines were, there were still moments when it was easy for someone to allow their mind to wander. What better way to spend such time than thinking about the person you were positive you had feelings for in a complete state of undress? That's what younger Vander thought anyway.

And older Vander may still have those invasive thoughts every so often, too.

"Oh? You mean when we were younger, aye? I can't imagine you having such thoughts now while I look like this," Vander chuckled while gesturing to his much larger belly before getting back to cleaning. Granted, only some of it was additional fat, and the rest was muscle he had gained from working out. But his age was definitely showing, and it was easier to poke fun at his weight than that.

He glanced down at Silco when he noticed the other man move closer to him. For a second, he did wonder why Silco had done that. But then, watching the other out of the corner of his eye as he continued to smoke his pipe, he was pretty sure he saw the other shivering a little. Vander hadn't even noticed the cold, but then he did have a bit more body mass on him than his friend.

Adjusting his pipe in his mouth, he shrugged out of his jacket before draping it over Silco's shoulders. "Here," Vander said as he resumed smoking his pipe, "you need this more than I." Even if Silco had his own jacket, it didn't seem to be doing him much good as they waited to be told they could wrap up work for the day.

Vander wasn't that surprised to see Ekko at the bar. "If you're looking for the others, I don't think they're here. Or did Benzo send ya?" Though he guessed Ekko could also be stopping by for another reason. Then again, he didn't know what reason Benzo would have sent him. As far as he knew, things had been business as usual for the both of them. The kids hadn't brought anything back that he needed to get rid of either. At least not of late.

Vander grunted softly at the morning greeting before reaching out and pulling Silco closer to him. He wasn't quite ready to get up and go about his day. The bar wouldn't need to be open soon anyway. Most of his regulars didn't wander in until around lunch. The only reason was to make it easier for people to find him. So if he delayed opening for an hour or two because he wished to enjoy some time with his partner shouldn't hurt anyone.

Moving himself into a better position, he gently nuzzled at Silco's neck, making sure to brush some of his beard against Silco's skin. Yes, his half-awake mind was taking advantage of the knowledge that Silco enjoyed that. But Vander wasn't trying to start anything. If something happened then he was game but he was also fine if nothing did. Right then he just wanted to cuddle as he gradually woke up.

Gray eyes glared at them. "I'm not choosing between them." He outright refused. They might not be his biological daughters but they were his adopted daughters now. Even if he wasn't and had stuck to his uncle like role he wouldn't choose. He loved them both equally even with his girls being so different. He loved spending time with Vi and doing the hobbies they both had an interest in. But he also loved conversing with Powder and seeing the little inventions she had recently built.

"I love them both and nothing will change that."

Opening up the bar was a routine that Vander actually didn't mind. It had become such an ingrained routine that half the time he didn't pay much attention to it. One of them was going about making his coffee. He had everything placed in exact locations so that going through the task was a breeze.

Right then he was going through the motions of making himself a cup to have with his breakfast. When he grabbed what he thought was the sugar, he added his usual amount before finishing it. Grabbing his cup, he took it with him as he began to look to see what he could make for himself and the kids. While he took inventory of what he had to work with, Vander took a sip of his coffee...Only to immediately spit it out because the taste of salt was so overpowering.

"Powder!" Though he shouted at her namer, Vander was highly amused by her antics. Or at least he assumed it was her. She was the only one he could think of that would try to have with him like this. The other three would claim they were "too old" for such things.

Vander hated how his patrons could get rowdy sometimes. They meant well but causing fights in his bar was never something he approved of and always tried to stop before they started. Sadly, when he had to go and deal with something and left someone else in charge for a bit, they happened every so often.

Like tonight.

He had been up in his office trying to figure out what he needed to order for the bar when he heard a commotion going on. Unfortunately, he hadn't gotten down to the bar quick enough as he walked in on a large fight. Thankfully yelling and throwing out a few punches of his own before he got everyone to calm down. Only to then throw everyone out because his bar was in such disarray. Vander only gave himself a few minutes to survey the damage and mess before he got to work cleaning.

He had no idea how long he had been at it when he heard a noise that was definitely not made by him. He was in the middle of mopping the floor when he stopped to see what the noise was. Only to see her leave him something to eat. His shock at seeing her melt away to a fond smile as he leaned on the mop.

"Is this your way of sayin' I need a break?"
