The Commonwealth had been too quiet for comfort that day, and Nippy was on edge.
For dimwits like Midas, it may have been fine to just wander the wastes, but to the retriever, it took guts to venture so far ahead. Even Shei didn't usually tread down this path on her own — Notable as it was for mirelurk nests.
But that wasn't what Nippy could smell. She smelled something different — Something intriguing.
"Hold it, Ted," Nippy warned, tail flagging outward as a signal to halt her human companion a few paces behind. "I'm gonna check this out."
And so, she crept along the cracked pavement, eyes sharp and nose twitching — Taking in her surroundings as a growl rose from her throat.
"You better make y'self known, 'fore I tear you to pieces!"
