Slowly he slid into the chair next to Mark, kicking his feet out at two different angles, cigarette butt crushed and squashed between two digits while the filter was pulled from between breaths, the room clouding up with Bender’s cigarette smoke, one after another it seemed to be these days, now he had a job, he could afford to chain smoke.
“You know if anyone is hittin that? I mean in the store?” He bluntly asked the other.
“The goth ones are always a little freaky, was thinkin’ of makin a move, see if she’s interested.”
Mark’s eyes remained wide and empty in response to the question. He didn’t really know who liked who and all that school yard stuff around the store. AJ or Lucas were probably better people to ask. As if in answer to their question, Deb came out of the back office with the cash drawers in her hands, head raised with confidence she never actually felt. “You work today?” She asked Bender surprised to see him. “Don’t you still go to school?” Mark giggled under his breath and went back to sorting the CD shipment he was unboxing.
