“That’s the thing, you see, you never want to talk about it.”
It was the most honest she’s been with herself and in the light of the recent events, it felt liberating to be able to finally string into words all the feelings she’s been keeping inside. There was no more anger in her; she was tired of all their arguments and she wanted nothing more than to be okay with him except she did not know how. In the wake of it, however, she faced him in all her vulnerability.
She leaned against the railing of their balcony while he leaned against the sliding door that opened to the amazing view of the sunset before them. How ironic it was that they were talking about something that could potentially put an end to their relationship just as the sun and moon were about to meet.
“At one point, you have to make a decision, my love. It’s hard, I know….but both of us have to do it.” She smiled sadly, thinking about how her choice affected her own relationship with her original other half. “I can’t keep holding onto you and loving you when you want it to come from someone else because then I wouldn’t be making you happy and there’s nothing more I want than to see you happy.”
She crossed the distance between them and cupped his face in her hands. Her heart was pounding, both from fear of rejection and the rush of putting herself out there just as she always had for him, but her love for him remained true as the light of day. “You know that I love you, right? I love you so very much but I just need some sort of reassurance from you.”
